Good day. My losses are about 1 btc when trading xbc / btc. I bought at a very expensive price, but now I do not sell. I have about 14 xbc at my disposal. It's a pity that later I became interested in crypto-currencies and missed the IPO of investing money in a coin.

Sorry for my bad english I'm from Russia.

wait for next pump

Block Size and Transactions per Second

Scalability has always been an issue with Bitcoin. The most relevant issue is the block size which is currently limited at 1MB or 1000000 Bytes.

The chart below details the average 1 Week Transaction Size since May 2010. The average BTC Transaction size is around 495 Bytes.

Data is taken from https://tradeblock.com/bitcoin/historical/1w-f-tsize_per_avg-11101

So how many BTC transactions will fill a Bitcoin Block ?

This is simply -

Maximum Block Size / Average Transaction Size = Average Transactions Per Block

1000000 Bytes / 495 Bytes = 2020 Transactions

A new Bitcoin Block should be found by miners every 10 minutes. There are 600 seconds in 10 minutes.

To calculate Transactions per Second this is simply -

Number of Transactions Per Block / Block Time in Seconds

2020 Transactions / 600 Seconds = 3.37 Transactions Per Second

Now that BTC has reached a good level of adoption the block size limit is frequently reached. Transactions that are not processed are rolled over into the next block. Priority is given to Transactions that include a higher transaction fee. It is not a perfect system by any means which is why there is an ongoing debate at the moment in making sure Bitcoin is scalable.

So how will this effect BitcoinPlus - XBC ?

For starters BitcoinPlus has a much shorter average block time. 60 seconds compared to Bitcoins 600 seconds. So straight away BitcoinPlus can already handle 10 times as many transactions every 10 minutes.

The Block size limit in BitcoinPlus is also larger at 1.5MB or 1500000 Bytes.

This is highlighted in the source code - https://github.com/bitcoinplusorg/xbcwalletsource/blob/master/src/main.h#L32

The average Transaction size of BitcoinPlus is very similar to Bitcoin. Using the Bitcoin average of 495 bytes we can work out how many transactions BitcoinPlus can handle every block.

Maximum Block Size / Average Transaction Size = Average Transactions Per Block

1500000 Bytes / 495 Bytes = 3030 Transactions

To calculate how many transactions per second this is simply

Number of Transactions Per Block / Block Time in Seconds

3030 Transactions / 60 Seconds = 50.5 Transactions Per Second

You can see therefore It is going to be a very long time before BitcoinPlus has to worry about any scalability issues.

If BitcoinPlus - XBC did ever reach mass user adoption we would be able to look at Bitcoin and Litecoin and see what works and what doesn't and impliment the most suitable solution for BitcoinPlus.

Bitcoin Plus network can currently handle almost 8 times as many transactions per second as Bitcoin. A few other up and coming Cryptos have jumped the gun and implemented SegWit probably for hype mostly. Now SegWit2MB being proposed along with a new idea called Extension Blocks which doesn't sound like a bad idea. Monitoring all of this closely every day.

Why 8 Times more ??  I think 15 times more  .

XBC BitcoinPlus has a Block 50% Bigger and 10 times faster than BTC.  Bitcoin (BTC) holds only 3.37 transaction per second vs Bitcoinplus (XBC) holds 50.5 transactions per second, in another words, BitcoinPlus supports 15 times more transactions than Bitcoin.

It is a good thing to have recently added a SSL certificate (https) on the main website, thus increasing security and privacy (less than 24h after suggested, talk about team responsiveness  Smiley ).

It would be even better if you find a way to extend it to the custom block explorer.  I guess there may be some conflict preventing the website block explorer from showing the SSL certificate.
Because of that, I am using the Block Experts blockexplorer when I need to see tx or address info, since they have a fully functional SSL.

On another note, all the nice pictures of the XBC wallet that were on the main front page of this thread have disappeared after SSL has been added. Now instead of the pictures we have: 'bitcointalk. org image proxy: Invalid image'.

The solution to this could possibly be as simple as to update the image links by adding 's' after 'http' for each image link.

Bootstrap.dat

Note*Bootstrap.dat If using bootstrap.dat remove the blk files from appdata files first before replacing with bootstrap.dat BEFORE opening the wallet and syncing.

What is bootstrap.dat and how do I know if I am using it?  Is this a mandatory upgrade?  I prefer not tampering with my wallet at this time unless absolutely necessary, to avoid any risk of error, and just wait until a new wallet version is ready.

It is basically the full blockchain conpressed in to a file that can be placed into your executables in order to help speed up the blockchain downloading process. It takes a small amount of technical knowledge but is not a complicated process. If you are uncomfortable with using it just carry on as normal
Thanks.  Then I will ignore everything related to bootstrap.dat.  When I installed BitcoinPlus wallet, downloading and syncing the blockchain normally was rather fast and easy, compared to some other cryptocurrency wallets.  A note could be added in the first post of this thread where it is mentioned bootstrap.dat, to explain what it is and that it's not necessary for most new users.

In fact, one of the reasons why I chose XBC is because of its simplicity.  The wallet is relatively simple to use and understand, even for non-technical people.
