It already has a 60 second blocktime using only 1.5 MB blocksize but we are also now looking at getting segwit activated to compliment this.Currently it has a hard coded native Tor proxy along with P2P messaging.
this is more efficient than bitcoin cash and other bitcoin forks?
What are the advantages in less technical terms?

when will segwit activated? 
Q1 2018 but that can mean end of this month or march afaik.
And at that time we will need new wallet for staking?

when will segwit activated?
I don't have date or time yet only advice that we are looking at having it finished inside Q1 but hopefully the earlier part of that timeline.If we had a plain vanilla codebase it would be done and dusted by now but with native Tor and the P2P mesaging we were running into some issues on each part/BIP etc and having to rollback when things didn't work as they should.Until everything works on testnet it cannot be released.After ripping out the native proxy things are moving more smoothly but at the final stages we are now having some difficulties with the messaging.

When we are out of testnet and push the updated client to the public repo we will provide a link for download.Until then staking will carry on as normal in the current client.Nothing is affected until we pass the stage where old clients no longer stake but the new client will be ready by then.

Did XBC start as a fork, can people claim coins with btc priv keys?
Old project was abandoned back in 2015 so there was a 1:1 swap for anyone with coins on the old chain.
I'm gutted I missed this, have 923 coins still in the old fork
I mined a lot of shit coins in 2014 when Asic's made it impossible for Bitcoin mining, this was one of them
as you can from my profile, I've been here a while; just not a very active member.I was due to scrub an old laptop I (re)found in the cupboard before I trashed it and found my old (non BTC) wallets. There was a couple of hundred quid worth of (still) valid coins (guncoin, asiacoin, vericoin) and what looked like a fortune in XBC when I checked the price on polonex. The chain wouldn't sync when I left on the client overnight, so I downloaded the latest build the next day and when that finally synced but showed a lesser balance of 9.23 (but conflicted). At that point I knew something was up and started catching up on the BCT forums.
I made significant gains on my BTC since 2013-14 so I guess if anything that overshadowed the other coins I had stored away. If anything this has got me back into crypto-mining and a these forums, so not a total loss I guess.
