Well, That's Crypto :-\
Im running .99 beta on win7 64. It ran great for about 4 days(mining 24/7 w/ 4 of 8 threads) but begining yesterday the client will run for less than 5 minutes then crashes. Ideas?

thanks

here's where fud gets started. Instead of dreaming about fucking rockets, how about someone addressing my question regarding the wallet crashing.

FFS people, stay focused.

So how will POS work? Does anyone know the % return? How many XDN will I need in my wallet?

How many XDN will I need in my wallet? - Any amount, the question is how long should your XDN to be "on hold" or "sleep"

There are several ways of PoS implementation with CN technology, as well as several ways of PoS block rewards. All specs will be discussed with the community, like % of interest and other aspects.

Possible PoS implementation ways quite simple and smart:

1. New blocks are Hybrid PoS/PoW. PoW block rewards = 150 XDN. New PoS block reward = % of coins "staked in proof" or % of annual emission or fixed 150 XDN block reward, or fee, or mix of above - new emission, that will decrease full XDN emission up to 33 years.
2. a. Automatic PoS - each XDN unit that is on hold for E.G. > 7 days is involved in PoS
    b. Bank - alike PoS - some kind of "holding deposit" that owner choose via GUI. E.G. I want 30% of my current wallet amount to be involved in PoS.

2.b. Possible implementation is to keep "on hold" XDN visible for network but still "anonymous". E.G. Bob can say: 6.900.000.000 XDN units emitted, but 3.000.000.000 XDN are on "hold" (Involved in PoS) and 4.900.000.000 XDN are in circulation.

To be continued ...

Please don't implement PoS!! It has a bad name, and the security of the technology is still not clear without bringing in some type of centralization (even if minimal).
Cryptonote mining is relatively energy efficient too.

I vote against PoS. Strongly.

PHS 50% PoS - Stop mining start minting
PoS would ve pretty amazing and add a good deal of value to XDN

10-50% pos would be my vote

I vote to do whatever Peercoin does.  The market views PPC as the most legitimate PoS coin and I agree.  Sunny King is a genius!   Cool

Did he suggest a better number?  How about 2%, 3%, or 4%?  Central banks like 2%, but there is a good case for 4%.  3% is a nice compromise.

Central banks usually aim for 4% yearly (and in reality its 10-15), which keeps most economies going. With Cryptos more than that is lost every year due to lost password, user errors, etc. With Darknote you also have to consider Ithe actual coin supply is likely much less than is expected due to large tx blocks lowering reward initially, maybe dnote can comment on this more, just my guess.

a Conservative number would be 10% at the minimum and higher if dev wants to hit actual original target on supply (if its far off, I have no way to know)

SK has said 1% was too conservative.

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) judges that inflation at the rate of 2 percent (as measured by the annual change in the price index for personal consumption expenditures, or PCE) is most consistent over the longer run with the Federal Reserve’s mandate for price stability and maximum employment. Over time, a higher inflation rate would reduce the public’s ability to make accurate longer-term economic and financial decisions. On the other hand, a lower inflation rate would be associated with an elevated probability of falling into deflation, which means prices and perhaps wages, on average, are falling–a phenomenon associated with very weak economic conditions. Having at least a small level of inflation makes it less likely that the economy will experience harmful deflation if economic conditions weaken. The FOMC implements monetary policy to help maintain an inflation rate of 2 percent over the medium term.

That doesn’t really sound right to me or economist Larry Ball, who points out the advantages of a 4 percent target, most notably, insurance against hitting the zero lower bound (ZLB: the very serious problem that occurs when the Fed’s main tool — the interest rate it controls — is zero and thus cannot be lowered further even if economic conditions warrant further lowering; if that sounds far-fetched, it’s in fact precisely where we’ve been stuck for years now).

7-31 day 'sleep' time

True coin supply is actually less than most think? due to smaller reward blocks in the beginning, a higher PoS rate would not be too inflationary taking this into account.

DarkNote is always well ahead of the all CN-coin.

I'd say XDN, XMR, and BBR are tied for first place depending on which features are important to you.

XMR is best for those of us who don't GAS about GUI and want security from Timewarp, etc. attacks.

BBR's light footprint is very nice if you are on Granny's old laptop.

XDN is the only game in town if you like anon msg and a GUI.

BBR's light footprint is nice regardless of what hardware you're using.

BBR has had a GUI for a long time.
