I recommend a larger "Newer" power supply at least 600W for your setup.

I've been fighting my xfx 5850 for two days finally I found a bios config that worked for me, I dropped the memory down to 300 mhz, increase the fan to 100% and was able to get it stable at 1000/300 with a 1.15 v core it does 391 mhash. I couldnt get it stable without the voltage increase and my current temps are 47.5C(150cfm delta intake fans) I couldnt get it much higher without it crashing but its been running for about 2 days now without an issue. Check your voltages, sometimes the card will crash without a major temp, just depends on the card I imagine.
nothing other than normal startup beep when I get a shutdown so far.

450watts is what you draw from the wall then it has to be converted to dc power considerable power loss between the 2. Consider the following any usb deices and so forth take power another thing to look into is was there a beep when ur card failed? try over clocking till your computer shuts off. Listen to the beep patern from the mother board watch how many long and short bees then google it. Chance is that its lack of power could be other stuff thogh good luck
I get crappy clock speeds with my crappy power supplies. Check yours to make sure that's not the problem.

My XFX 5850 from TigerDirect has been running at 825/500 for 2 weeks straight. I couldn't get it any higher.

2x5830 (975MHz core clock, 340MHz mem clock) fan @ 70% getting 281.6 per video card, over 500 mhases.
I tried overclocking the 5830, took a dump on me. I feel safe at 975.

Ah, you seem to have raised your memory clock. Try bumping it back down to 900 (as shipped).

up to 900 mhz seemed stable for the 3 minute bursts I was doing before bumping it up a little more. my temps were 88C anywhere between 850-900. at stock 725 core temps are 75C.
I think I'll let it run stock for a day at least and then maybe when I'm less frustrated try memory underclocking. crashes take like 5 minutes to get back up and I get impatient way too fast.

900 should be perfectly stable 24x7 but you need to raise the fan speed.
I got 4 of these a few weeks back I do 880/350 mem and get about 350mh with pheonix+phat miner. One of the cards is a little bitch and I had to set it at 850/350 to stabilize it. Other than that they have been working fine other than my friends diamond 5850 did 410Mh without any effort.

also how do you use the phoenix back end for guiminer? I select new openCL miner and then the bitcoin directory comes up and asks me to select a miner.
