That's interesting.

All transactions after fork have been included in blocks on both blockchains.

As example TX ef7aba30ff92401067824d066cda071d885beda411d60df993b34e8af3804881

On the right blockchain:

Block # 202619   2014-09-04 04:29:05

So, if you send coin, even on the wrong blockchain, you get payments on both forks )))

Yes, but in normal fork-situation (if bitcoin-altcoin were forked), you transaction CAN but not MUST be included in fork.
I have seen a lot of forks already ))) and normally transactions doesn't go afar

Sure, specially you can connect to both forked coin-networks and send this transaction.

But this situation is good. If you send coins to exchange, you get coins, even on wrong fork and after blockchain rebuild your coins will be on the exchange.

Well, I don't understand why trades have been frozen because of this ! As far as I know, this only affects the incoming or outgoing transactions & it has nothing to do with trades which is only the changes in ledger book of the internal exchange site only.

P.S. I am eagerly waiting to get some cheap XMR actually  Grin

I started using Dwarfpool soon after it launched Maxcoin (thanks Atrides, made some decent returns on that one).

Excellent pool operator.

I have been wondering if this means double spends are possible. But that doesn't look likely given that people are able to sync back to the correct fork and no coins are lost. Also, the problem was uncovered quite quickly from what I can tell.

This is quite a development.
There are some complexities with doing such a consolidation that are worth taking a close look at.  Fast block chains are more likely to have forks and longer ones, so this may not be the last time such code is useful.

Bittrex.com has disabled Monero.

There was an announcement that some coin will be removed. Monero was not on that list. What is going on? I was carefull and held just part of my Monero in bittrex, but I am anyway pissed of. Is Monero really removed form Bittrex or just for a while. Is there any way to got those Monero back?

Thank you. That is the reason. Poloniex has also problem with Monero. Lets hope they will be solved.

how can i avoid it ending again on the wrong chain if i resync after redownloading the blockchain from scratch?
thank you

Download the blockchain, make a copy of it. If your sync fails, you can go back to the copy and try again.
are you saying it is just a 50/50 probability issue?

No because more and more people will be on the right chain. There are still some nodes on the broken chain but it should become increasingly rare so you will be less likely to sync with them.

ok, then i'll wait some hours before trying to sync again, thank you for explaining smooth.

I'd check ChainRadar first, as they are on the correct chain: http://chainradar.com/xmr/blocks

If it's not there, then yes, you need to re-download the blockchain, and then delete your wallet.bin (not the .bin.keys) and reopen it as normal. simplewallet will recreate that cache from the wallet creation date onwards, and since you never sent anything on the current chain your coins will still be there.
Erm, it's showing on both.

Cryptonote has been a cluster fuck from the start. Deliberately poorly coded with exploitable mining and made by a scam team. I appreciate that Monero had nothing to do with that but the algorythm is fucked at its core.

But only one of these is relevant enough to actually get attacked.  Grin
Apologies, but I could not resist the temptation of participating in the ramble of thoughts concerning the diverse 3-lettered initiatives.

I would like to extend wishes of a "nighty night" to tacotime, who brought forth meaning to the expression blockchain voyeurtm.
