Monero coin is in the top 10 of all cryptocurrencies in the world. I think that it is very promising and I keep it in my portfolio.

Monero is the only coin today with completely trust-less privacy and anonymity, unlike ZCash-family coins based on zk-snark algorithm that depends on initial secret key generation trust.

Also Monero is the only coin today with long-known and well-studied Cryptonight algorithm, published and discussed in peer-reviewed scientific journals since year 2000.

Other coins attract users by either sparkling but unverified new ideas like ZCash/zk-snark or just hard PR management like Dash.

There are many areas of human activity to get spontaneous risks, like smart contracts, internet of things, etc. So may coins like ETH, IOTA, etc. offer you a chance to get risks.

But, privacy and anonymity is other completely different area. If you want to stay anonymous and private, you apparently don't want to get risks. That's why Monero is the only reasonable private and anonymous coin.

Thanks Jason.W and Hueristic.

I would advise you to seek an answer to your dogecoin question in one of the outlets where dogecoin is often discussed.
I just used Dogecoin for comparison... You can check other coins too. I don't know why but I thought there would be more transactions on Monero network.
I was thinking about this later on and realized that number of transactions really doesn't matter. There is probably a lot of "spam" transactions on other networks and we don't want this with Monero since it would only result in bigger blockchain filled with these transactions. If we are considering fee cost it is logical that people are using other coins for non-private transactions.

Doomed to see the future and unable to prevent it
I was just checking some Monero network statistic here: https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/monero-hashrate.html.
And now I wonder why hashrate has fallen so dramatically in May? Is that a mistake or was there any major event which caused this?

I also find number of Monero transactions interesting, there is actually not a lot of them. Even Doge has approximately 5x more transactions on average. https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-xmr-doge.html What do you guys think is the reason for this? Not enough exposure of XMR, fees, complexity, UI?

ASICs had been stealth mining and the algo was changed to cryptonight v7 to thwart them.

Around May and a bit before then it was so decided that whereas the people in charge of Monero don't currently like botnets more than the effect of not having them mine Monero, the method in which mining Monero was changed by the people that have the ability to change the source code of Monero, in order to discard the old botnets during some likely routine hard forking event.

In reflection of this change becoming a reality, the difficulty algorithm adjusted itself to reflect this action. As the hashrate is derived from difficulty, the graph that displays hash rate was left with a rather abrupt and jagged looking cliff. Whether or not it was a mistake is a matter of speculation likely for some time to come, though it was unquestionably a major event.

I would advise you to seek an answer to your dogecoin question in one of the outlets where dogecoin is often discussed.

bot net out of control...or is there a hardfork coming for this too?  Cool  ===> fluffy trojan wat!

I'd say thats great news, you are unable to think out of the box and that has always been your problem. Well besides the fact you just enjoy trolling.

If those bots were not mining Monero they would be doing something worse. That is a best case scenario for them.

goldman saches(circle) pwned your computer networks using XMR ? ... thank you for playing!  Kiss  weeeeee

Goldmann Ballsacks pawned poloneix. I have no clue what your talking about.

Hy guys,

are we supported now by ledger or not, at least it is not on the Ledger HP on the supported cryptoassets  Roll Eyes

There is a link to the DIY I saw in this thread but I think the out of the box support is in the next point release. I may be behind on this info tho so check backa few pages for dEBRUYNE's post.

Here it is.

I just generated a fresh wallet from ledger effectively. I observed a wallet document was made on my computer. Does this file store my private keys? If so, what's even the idea in a hardware budget.

From this guide:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/9901/how-do-i-generate-a-ledger-monero-wallet-with-the-gui-monero-wallet-gui/

Also, how careful must i be with keeping this document? Imagine if I delete it accidentally? AM I GOING TO lose usage of my wallet completely easily do so?

You can simply regenerate it with aforementioned StackExchange guide.

Sorry guys, but Im not happy with how things are going! The logo is dull and plain as hell and doesnt stick out among 100 generic insurance company logos you can find in any phone book. Thats not even the troubling part. What really grinds my gears is that apparently you tackle the "professional" approach to run this project from the wrong end, submitting to some BS ISO compliance codes and choosing generic company logos for a project like this in a community like this is clearly the wrong way to go. You are supposed to think outside the box and not try to fit in it! This is the Crypto Revolution and not some credit card scheme 2.0. Please take the courage to be original, the community will thank you for it.

I like the Missives post and hope to see more of it regularly to keep us in the loop. Thats where Monero could shine over Bitcoins detached development team. Pls go on!

Monero should always be handled professionally. This is not a libertarian wet dream from our perspective; we are trying to build and create something that will allow for financial transactions that are secure, private, and untraceable. We do not define use-cases for the project, which means that everything should always be kept clean and above-board:)

Grin nice to meet you. Just trying do my part for XMR Wink

Like the only guy in the crypto articles who talks any damn sense. Tmosley lost his damned mind over bcash. All the old bugs arguments are pathetically non sequitur. Sometimes I feel like making an account over there just to play devils advocate because everyones anti crypto arguments are so bad. I mean I really do pick up a lot of good insights from those comments sections on other articles but they are helplessly out of their depth on crypto.

Bcashers and XmrTards are very much alike... where rptilian? Smiley lol

Yea I mean you are right. All this time I thought fungibility was a big deal in a currency I now see that I was just being dramatic. Roll Eyes
