only hodl what you understand and love!
Hello all, for some reason i can't get my wallet connected to the network. I've already opened the correct port on my router and firewall. 2 days of downloading the blockchain and then it just lost connection. running on a iMac. any help would be great.

Which version of Monero are you using. Please be advised, that 0.17.1.8 is the latest, only download it from the official source https://www.getmonero.org/downloads/

that's what I'm running and that's where i got the download from

Are you still losing connection or are you connected by now. If not, you can add a specific remote node https://www.getmonero.org/resources/user-guides/remote_node_gui.html

Bittrex delisted Monero along with ZCash and Dash which was a weird decision sparking concerns about a regulator crackdown on privacy coins.
Monero is known to have the best privacy and we have also read previously about the IRS hiring Chainalysis to find a way to trace the transactions.

Can Bittrex know something others don't or acted before anyone else for their own reasons? Will Monero be delisted by more exchanges? Price drops and I'll be waiting to buy.

Monero(XMR) is one of the good altcoins and pioneering coin in this business industry.
ALso I can't even imagine why Bittrex delisted it, honestly before Bittrex was one of the top exchange but now it
turned into a shit exchange platform just like the other that has no good background anymore in this
crypto space.

The de-listing of privacy coins from regulated exchanges was the inevitable escalation in govt attempts towards totalitarian financial surveillance.

Ironically, while this shows these privacy coins work, the market is "upset"

Decentralized exchanges still list them ;-)

I have updated the GUI from 0.17.1.1 to 0.17.1.4 and now when I launch it

I have the warning:
"Wallet is not connected to daemon"

And then:
"Daemon failed to start

Timed out, local node is not responding after 120 seconds.

Please check your wallet and daemon log for errors. You can also start to try monerod.exe manually"

Why is that?

Have you already tried rebooting your system? Also, do you use a custom data directory for the blockchain?
Sorry to answer to this only now, I had to work on other stuff meanwhile. I am still stuck at the same point. I have updated the GUI to v0.17.1.8 and the Ledger app to 1.7.4.

And still the error message:
"Daemon failed to start

Timed out, local node is not responding after 120 seconds.

Please check your wallet and daemon log for errors. You can also start to try monerod.exe manually"

And trying to launch monerod.exe manually doesn't work.

So yes indeed, the data directory for the blockchain is not at the same place than the GUI software. My C:\ hard drive is an SSD which is full, so it looks like the blockchain data went to D:\bitmonero\... while the GUI software is within C:\

So what should I do? Reinstall everything on my D:\ hard drive? But since this is not a SSD, the synchronisation will take forever  Undecided

So you guys that use Twitter want to start calling out the Fudders?

I've seen posts like "Monero has unlimited supply" without context FUD.

All it takes is a few concerted Fudders to scare the uniformed away if no-one calls them out on their lies. The Sheeple are easily manipulated.

Bittrex has always had shit volume that was driven by arbitrage and nothing else.

They have major problems with regulators and are trying to show what good little boys they are.

Agreed. Bittrex also has not delisted other anonymous coins Aeon and Grin. This makes me speculate that Bittrex only does not want to spend on legal advice on how to proceed with anonymous coins but also want to be safe hehe.

@smooth. Did Bittrex contact anyone from Monero’s development team before the announcement?

GRIN is designed to remove too...

That may be the case here. Bittrex has already lost its luster among crypto users. But let's see if Binance.US will follow on this move. If not, bittrex is just deciding on their own even without any threat from regulatory bodies. XMR has a lot of users, so I don't think it will go down just like what XRP is experiencing right now.
I remember bittrex delisted bitshares (in fear of listing security tokens just because bts has shares in its name :d)
But in the other hand it is only matter of time when governments will fight against privacy crypto!

Who needs Bittrex. Huh Support the exchanges that also support Monero.

Open source developer grants from Kraken have also been available for XMR for a few weeks now.
