Since i joined in this forum, it was only then that i know about some of alternate coins that is flying in colors and Monero is one of them. It almost reached 500$ mark before it went down. I speculate that when bitcoin will have an ATH this year, Monero will also have a new price high too.

You really believe criminals would even consider Monero when it has been demonstrated to be highly traceable and insecure for almost its entire existence? That is a really bad track-record and not a risk any semi-intelligent criminal would be willing to take.
Just because some of those issues have partially been resolved does not make this history go away.

lolz, your whole posting history is one big embarassment:

Monero can expect another huge dump i guess now that full privacy is available for Bitcoin.

https://www.coindesk.com/privacy-bitcoin-wallets/

LOL

There is almost no doubt that Monero's price will increase. Of course not investment advice. But I believe that XMR is a strong project. I think it was a project that could be invested much earlier.

I don't think that's a likely scenario.
The MoneroV fork will break Monero's single selling point, solid privacy.
If it can no longer offer that, its value vaporizes into thin air.

LOOOOOL, almost nobody fell for that obvious scam because it's been called out en masse by the xmr-community... Also, solutions were developed to claim coins safely, because this project has some actual devs and cryptographers working on it...

I've said it a hundred times before.
Once again you all fell for the bull trap.
Resistance has been broken again and today we've seen a drop even harder than the past weeks.

Target level for this week looks to be around 3000-3500 USD.

rest my case, you're an idiot troll...

bye

I remember webbot talking about XMR's rise in popularity this year. People might just start jumping on the privacy train soon i guess.

Soon(tm)? It’s already happening...

How do you feel about XMR/BTC - USD drops I can handle, the XMR/BTC rate is insulting at this stage...

Underestimating the strength of Bitcoin has always been a mistake.  Every altcoin fanboy makes this error and later regrets it.  Bitcoin is the rich coin that gets richer (preferential attachment).

OTOH, XMR usually tests painful new lows before popping up again (green shoots grow in red blood).  Right now it's likely stolen DNM coins are being liquidated or at least diversified.  And the block reward is still relatively generous.

But we have lots of great news coming Soon(tm).

This weeks dev notes are very bullish for our fundamentals.

Be sure to check the Dash Collapsing Monero Up thread for necro-posts periodic updates when the ratio reaches new lows, in accordance with the long-term trend that thread was created to document and discuss.

Interesting and agreed mate.

Given you’ve been around longer than I, do you feel it’s naive to expect an ATH in BTC terms for Monero in 2019?

Monero is now a very interesting topic to talk about
It isn't only very interesting now but it has been one of the most interesting topics for altcoins to discuss.

Many do believe in Monero and has been holding since those early days. Look on how this thread was old and yet there's too many active people discussing it.

Monero is now a very interesting topic to talk about, in all circles of investors, and what I observe (XMR) Monero is indeed worth talking about and become the most sought after,
because monero is currently experiencing a very good development and monero price when this be an investment choice and traders,
although Dash still occasionally spike over XMR in market cap and Dash is still trying to fix their damaged coinjoin version.

I will tell you what Monero really need. Fucking rich underground sellers/buyers in major countries.

Like some VIP bitcoin elites that dealing only in cash. And I mean that ones that will not talk with you, if you not want sell/buy BTC above $1,000,000. For them matter just the real 1 day actual BTC value. They not invest in BTC. Is just easy way to move money.

That's why BTC is still so popular. These people doesn't care about technical stuff.

They happy if someone give them $100,000,000 in Columbia and buy BTC from them.
And then in Thailand after 20-30 minutes they sell the BTC to for around same price.

Security is not right now a concern for these "bad guys". Maybe some major busts will wake up this big drugs/narcos/weapons/traffic/lords... to stop using BTC for such transactions and start using Monero and price of Monero will skyrocket.

DO we find support here?

If we don't it's pretty fucking bearish!

I cannot understand how Monero - with it's state of development and advancement (from Bulletproofs to Ledger to iOS + Android Wallets to Multisig) is back at the 2016 BTC price.

It must be near? I would have bet we wouldn't see below 0.017 again. Well actually I have been as I've been buying every week at spot since alphabay (after it settled down to $26 IIRC) and am pretty sure I'm under water. but I am going to keep it up for as long as I can. Smiley

I agree Monero is the best cryptocurrency in the market alongside bitcoin. But platform coins are somwhow earning more interest from the community. The market does not need too much platform coins and their value is too high in my opinion
I think it is easier to get hype around "platform" coins - eventhough most of them are truly worthless. IMO this is no problem for Monero, what matters the most for cryptocurrencies (not security/utility/etc. tokens) is it's acceptance (basically where can you spend/use them). I think that Bitcoin is more like gold, and Monero is like a cash so no worries about prices. Just BTFD and start using it as much as possible and it price will follow.

Some really good progress in the Dev Notes this week -
https://monerobase.com/article/monero_devmeeting_2018-07-29

Highlights

•   All Bulletproof(BP) audits have come in.
o   No major issues were found.
o   Some optimizations were suggested.
o   All signs point to BP's making it into the next scheduled protocol upgrade.

•   vtnerd has been working on a MessagePack(msgpack) encoding scheme to supplement JSON.
o   MessagePack is binary and is generally faster to encode/decode than straight JSON.

•   vtnerd is continuing work on the ZeroMQ(0MQ) implementation.
•   MoneroMooo is working on a blockchain ancestry application that calculates the cardinal of an output's ancestry.
•   A lot of work is being performed on the GUI.
•   hyc's new/testing Proof of Work scheme, randomJS, has been rewritten in C++ and is being tested in Wownero.
•   Next meeting on August 12th.
