I totally agree.  I would totally use them again...  I had never heard of them until today and I just gave them my credit card information!

Honestly, this is a pretty big marketing opportunity for them...

I must say I am impressed, they are surviving our onslaught pretty well. Assuming they don't cancel accounts or kill high usage instances, I will keep a few droplets up and running for other projects after.

Same! I really like their interface, and for my uses its more natural than EC2. We'll see!

I not use any kind of messenger beware of scammers
at least they have a lot of new customers!
Maybe, I am sure many are just using the free credit and will move on after.

Is there a way to have the coins generate into a wallet on my local machine.  Like if I use the same private key as my local wallet or something?

If somebody can help out here, I can't seem to find out how to do this using primecoind -?

What is the command to see wallet info/coins?

What is the command to send coins?

Is mining Primecoins somehow against their terms of usage? If not, they really are calling the wrong people idiots when dealing with this 'attack'.

If digital ocean can just cancel the coupon code and let people pay for the services.

There is no need to make a bigger deal of it.....

I recommend dedicated servers, unless you find a reliable host that doesn't mind high cpu utilization.
Got mine here https://robot.your-server.de/order/market , not as expensive as you might think and it runs a lot of stuff.  Grin

Here's what they have posted now:

DDOS Attack on DigitalOcean.com
Tue Jul 9 19:59:00 2013

We've rolled out a few changes which should help in mitigating the attack and some customers should once again be able to access the website as well as the API.

We are continuing our efforts to completely resolve this issue and also reviewing the vector that was used for the attack to improve the resilience of our systems moving forward.
Tue Jul 9 20:43:10 2013

There is an on-going DDOS attack against digitalocean.com, no hypervisors or customer virtual servers are currently affected by this attack.

At this time the website and API are currently unavailable as we are working on mitigating the attack to restore the availability of both services.

I'm averaging 25-30 PPS per instance.

Thanks, added to OP. Anyone using the 8 core instance?
