Is this a copy of Monero?

no of course not. monero is a copy of bytecoin. we are not based on either.

Is there a side by side chart of monero and XVG
so that we can differentiate which one is more better

not that im aware of, but i can tell you one major difference is we hide the users ip address. monero does not.

For some reason the Windows VERGE wallet ( non TOR) just crashed when trying to launch the EXE and the tor wallet, never syncs.  Has anyone had any success using these wallets with a windows 8.1 machine?
there's actually a new release for that: https://github.com/vergecurrency/electrum-xvg/releases
If I'm reading the info right there are only two servers. Any plans for a third? I'm glad to see that a second was added. I learned the hard way about single server electrum wallets (when the server fails you have no access to your coins until it is back up). That is what kept me from trying this one out. Also any eta on the update to the core wallet? I am getting tired of long load times. At least XVG isn't my longest loader...

Anyone else see this random reference to Verge in the almost mainstream media https://techcrunch.com/2017/09/17/crypto-asset-visualizer-turns-your-bitcoin-into-a-ar-pile-of-cash/?

yes i saw! very cool that verge made a secret appearance at techcrunch =]

there will be more servers than just two. also, in the next electrum wallet update, the wallet will automatically find electrum servers online, instead of having them hardcoded!

(also an easy to deploy electrum server script will be made avail, for complete decentralization of the electrum wallet)

Hi, Im new to cryptocurrency world.
I would like to know what is "Wraith Protocol" about?
Seems Verge official website did not mention anything about it. Even in official Verge twitter there is nothing about it.
Is it something totally new or it is something already implemented  Huh

I do not know it is someone try to hype things up or actually Verge team working on something new called "Wraith Protocol"?
Unlike other many popular coins they announce many things in advance but not Verge.

Can Dogedarkdev clarify this matter?
Thanks.

Guys, please tell me I`m wrong with my calculations for XVG mining for GPU.
Found on the reddit that single GTX 1060 gives around 5700 kh/s
Looking at the coinwarz calculator seems that it`s will be a loss for mining XVG?

Using which algo ?

I am running it on 1060s, 1070s, and 1080s via Zpool multi-algo and it's on-par with Nicehash in terms of profit @ current XVG value.
I think it`s scrypt but not sure.
Zppol is not an option as it pays ~ 20% less than it should be per my experience.
What is the optimal algo for Nvidia ti mine XVG?

The central topic of this community communiaction seems to be talking about that Verge price will fly to the moon. Many people in here are not really interested in the technical advantages of this coin or suggest new useful features for XVG.

Feel free to leave the community, not to read here, not to write here.

Interesting is, that many claim about verge and the forum, but anyway they are here,... and lets guess, ...have a bag full of verge.

From my point of view people just address the FUD which seems to grow as verge grows. If there wouldnt be that many FUD, there wouldnt be that many responses to FUD. Don't tell again about to start just a discussion.... there is no discussion required since everything is written on vergecurrency.com. If something there is not clear, formulate a question!

If you need help, for example with an verge wallet, you are welcome.

If there is no FUD there is no interest. Once a coin becomes a "threat" to another, the haters come out. I don't spend time on boards with tokens I think are scams. Well , maybe once or twice lol but I certainly don't make a habit out of it

Is this a copy of Monero?

a glance at the whole coin, and the closer to the coin-supply would tell you, that verge is THAT, what monero users thought monero is.

No lol. Verge is a copy of bitcoin. It doesn't use cryptography for privacy like monero does. XVG is psuedo-anonymous like bitcoin and 95% of other crypto-coins out there. It just uses tools like Tor and i2P to try to hide.
Verge (XVG) (formerly DogecoinDark (DOGED)) is a decentralised, open-source cryptocurrency forked from Dogecoin in October 2014 and re-branded as VERGE in February 2016. The project exploited the growing popularity of the "fun" Dogecoin cryptocurrency while adding code to increase the coin's anonymity and privacy features, notably the network's ability to run on dedicated Tor nodes. Verge is a pure proof-of-work cryptocurrency that uses multiple hashing algorithms to mine new coins.

The place of birth does not tell you anything about the first word that the baby will say. Also this first word will not tell you anything about his last word. Simply as that it is with software development.
https://vergecurrency.com/faq/

I think the mentioned "cryptography" will be born in a few days, so far verge is pregnant and we even do not know if it will by a boy, a girl or an alien  Grin Just the name is clear: Wraith

A question for the developers / community is there any plans to get Verge included in the list of coins you can store on the Trezor Hardware Wallet ? Or maybe a hardware wallet just for Verge . I think that would encourage people to hold/buy more Verge. Many thanks.   Smiley

Sorry, forgot to do the math. Verge was DogecoinDark forked from Dogecoin forked from Litecoin forked from Bitcoin.  Better?  Roll Eyes

"Multiple" hashing algorithms and "adding code" is different than privacy cryptography. Running on dedicated Tor nodes (as stated in your quote) is what Verge (a rebranded, 3rd generation bitcoin fork) uses for privacy. Tor and other privacy tools.

Hi everybody.

It's possible to min Verge with ethOS?

Thank you in advance for any help

sure, if ethOS has x17, scrypt, blake2s, lyra2re2, or myr-groestl....

OK but which algo should I better use with my nvidia 1080ti?

X17 at zpool.ca

I use Nemosminer to switch algos automatically on ZPOOL with my nVidia cards -- my 1080Ti spends most of it's time on algos like tribus, timetravel, etc.

Zpool steals 20% of your money. I wouldn't bother with them.

OK
and which pool do you recommand?

I'm currently using ahashpool.com. It's a new pool that I found through google which hasn't posted publicly on BCT yet. I'm in communications with the owner and monitoring pay outs closely.

what is up with this statement Verge dev:

" and we feel monero is "too private" to receive real mainstream adoption"?

or was that a user posing as  u?

At first:
Opinions can be changed if the experience and the knowledge change.

Second:
In the early time of a coin, or while the distribution is not widespread, an public ledger is giving everybody the safety which is missing since low spread. (This costs anonymity as well) When the coin is spread around the world, the safety does come more and more from the spread and the won in safety can be invested in anonymity, which can, of course, result in an private ledger. Not all trades will happen on private ledger, i think it will always be possible to see how much is private, or public. But i am not developer of this coin, so its up to the devs?! - I expect they try to find the best golden middle way.
