Looking for advertising deal
Potential DDoS attack immanent according to Bitmain, this surely is a bonus for the solo pools, Bitmain goes down less AntPool blocks 😊

Mining doesn't work that way, if other pool is down that doesnt't mean that you will find more blocks.
Difficulty doesn't change, therefore your chance to find a block also stays the same.

Go Big or Go Home.....
Question before I fire up an S3 for this:

When I mine solo on this pool, and shut the miner on and off , so it's not running 24/7, when it gets turned back on, does it start a new block from scratch, or continue where she left off?

There is no notion of progress/starting from scratch in finding a block.  Each hash your hardware finds has an equal chance of meeting or exceeding the current difficulty.

Cool. Thank you.

Just for testing this I'm using my PC, so GPU.

I got it working though, using MultiMiner instead. Getting a bit under 800Mh/s. but using 200+Watts extra from my PS for the Video Card.

I just tried setting it up on a test system, using GUIMiner.
First, do you have ipv6 set up on your machine? Second: does guiminer even support ipv6? I'm not even sure why anyone tries to do anything with it any more since it's been unmaintained for years now. Why not actually use real mining software... it works fine with cgminer.

Test your ipv6 connectivity here:
http://test-ipv6.com/

I'm using GUIMiner because it's simple and works with everyone else.
I wasn't aware it was outdated as I only use it for testing and I've only been into mining for a bit over a week.

I'll check out cgminer.

Do you have mining hardware or are you using a GPU?

It seems there was an hour long DDoS on this pool for an hour up to about 90 minutes ago. It wasn't particularly intense since pretty much nothing was affected as far as I can tell except for a huge burst in traffic. I suspect it's the same extortionist attacking all the pools, and he probably meant to aim it at kano's pool which he also did as per here:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.10705723

The offending user on the forums sends PMs via the forum, this is him:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/d-d-4-b-c-411920

I didn't receive any demands so perhaps he thought it might not be such a great idea to extort someone who's staff on the forum he's using for messaging and decided to move to someone else...

After relatively prolonged scheduled downtime, the pool is back online and I note miners returned pretty much immediately.

Since the pool was restarting I used this as an opportunity to add IPV6 support. You can now also connect via IPV6 to solo6.ckpool.org:3333 and solo6.ckpool.org:443

Long time lurker since late 2010... I'm 1LjJJS3rbo91FEdbY6o7YoVEEwkEtb7WZh. Thanks for running this pool folks. (And yes, that was rented hash power).

very nice the lurker gets a block!

You gotta time the pool is going down today?
A reminder the pool will be down  from 05:00 UTC for a period long enough to warrant people set a backup.
