Was it a nh rental?

nh stands for Nice Hash, a rent service, just try to google it and you will find it.

I know. I asked if he used it for the rental. Its not the only rental service.  Wink

Ohh, you are right, sorry, I was a bit tired when I was reading it and get mixed up in translation  Cheesy

I use a couple addresses to mine through nicehash, a few with the US server and a few with the UK.
here are my best:

"bestshare": 67096680168.74706,
   "bestever": 67,096,680,168

"bestshare": 3233756420.34045,
 "bestever": 1,715,316,112,862,
Help a Solo Newb out. What do these numbers mean exactly and how do they apply to your luck/odds?

The numbers show how close you are to solving a block.
Still way off, as currently 13,691,480,038,694 - 13.69 T would win the block.

Ahhhhh I get it. Thanks! Quite simple really.
I'm not even on the right Planet!!

I do it for fun, as i dont have the crazy PH that is needed to be in the realm of possibility.
I run a few S9's on low power mode and just set it and forget it.

BTW, I'm running a full node myself. Bitcoin Core, but on a windows rig. I'm building a system to run on Linux instead and when this is ready I would like to use this to be able to solomine myself. But, what do I need to do, to make this happen?
Yes, I know. Your answer would be in direct conflict with your interest in your full node service here.. But I'm asking anyway Wink

AFAIK you can't just point your miners to bitcoin core anymore because asics are too fast. You need to find a proxy to act as a passthrough between your miners and core. -ck used to maintain the pool/proxy/passthrough software CKPool (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ckpool-open-source-poolproxypassthroughredirectorlibrary-in-c-for-linux-790323) but doesn't anymore. Not sure if you can still use it but you're probably on your own if you do so my advice would be to look for other proxy software.

If you get it all setup you also need to think about block propagation. If you rely solely on core for this you see new blocks later then major miners because they're better connected to the network, so you could be mining on worthless old block information for some time, and it could lose you a block if you do happen to find one in a race condition. Major miners use http://bitcoinrelaynetwork.org/ for this so you'll need to setup that as well.

The benefit of solo ckpool is that all the above has been done and it works (you don't want to lose a block because you configured something wrong and that is a risk you take if you don't know what you're doing). If you want to do it to learn about bitcoin etc then go for it, or better yet do it on the bitcoin test network), but it isn't as easy as it used to be before asics and large mining farms.

edit: the relay network was created by Matt Corallo, on his github (https://github.com/TheBlueMatt) you'll also find a proxy.

The info from Gws24 is long outdated.
You can solo mine on a bitcoind, but only with one miner at a time.
ckpool in proxymode runs fine if you want to use more than one miner.
The Relaynetwork is exchanged by fibre, the use of the new fibrenetwork is supported from bitcoin core 14.00 and upwards, look here for details: http://bitcoinfibre.org/public-network.html.
I tested all this stuff with the latest versions.

So I thought I would give the lottery a try today.  Enabled my NiceHash account and when I place an order I get a red message that User order temporary locked.  What does this mean and why can't I place an order?

That happened to me and I had to contact support. Took them a couple of days, but they fixed it. No idea why it happened.

OK so I said screw it.  IF they don't want my 12PH rental I'll put the BTC back in my wallet.  Low and behold, my withdrawals are locked as well.  Seems that if you add F2A or change your password everything is locked for 7 days.
That friggan' SUCKS!!  So much for my 12PH rental and my BTC that is now locked there for a week.

I was able to rent here is rental

Coinbase and Gemini do this kind of crap all the time. I friggin HATE those two exchanges. They think your money is theirs apparently. Exactly what Crypto is NOT supposed to be.

Seems the issue is I updated my password and added F2A.  That locks your account for 7 days.
