the account said she was banned for insubstantial post, after going through her history, she just mostly post in offtopic, one because her english kinda sucks and two, because she wants to know about bitcoin but doesnt really understand anything from a tech standpoint.
Most likely the admin will not help your friend if the reason for the ban was insubstantial post. Roll Eyes

I know a couple other people who are also having this problem.
Have they tried to contact theymos or BadBear? I'm pretty sure that theymos or BadBear can help them.
Like what I did, but no response from either of them yet though. Smiley

what problem?

their accounts compromised or they locked from their accounts?
I'm pretty sure their account was locked too. Wink

This whole thread was talking about being locked from his account; honestly, what do you think? Roll Eyes
Precisely. Smiley

If your account was locked merely as a security measure then it probably wont count as ban-evading.
Oh, so, I am allowed to post outside of Meta section? Cheesy
Thank you for clarifying, but I will not use this account to post outside of Meta section though.

I thought you are banned because of a security issue not because you broke any rules. I doubt the ban evasion rule is applicable in your case.
Are you sure about that? Smiley

Well if we consider a ban a typical act to make sure users follow the rules and the ban evasion rule one that was set in place to make sure you cant just create a new account and continue to violate the rules or get away with it, I dont think it should be applied in your case. Im not sure though and by the time an admin replies to this question your account is probably restored anyway, but it might be something that should be answered for the future regardless.

Keep in mind that the security based ban is pretty new and we have no precendence for this.

It should be you're allowed in Meta section that's the rules, if you break the rules when you post in out from Meta section it will be bad for your account or could say you'll get Ban evasion and that can be get Perma Ban
What you mean by "bad for my account"?
The unofficial list of official Bitcointalk rules didn't state anything about permanent ban for ban evasion.

Most likely my appeal will be ignored if I start posting outside of Meta section.

If you did what message asked you, and with this thread, it should be enough to get their attention, just be patient as they are always busy.
In the meantime, figure out how the attacker got your details in the first place, otherwise you'll be making this same thread in a week - if you got infected, the attacker will just take the details again..
I assure you that I won't make the same mistakes again. Wink

You need to PM theymos or badbear or email the address given to you in order to recover the account. Basically just don't use the secret question option. Instead use the email recovery.
I've do so as stated in OP, but no response from either of them. I cannot reset the password via email, that's why I reset my password via secret question.

Yeah, theymos said that he was doing that because the hash on the secret question answers weren't very strong so they could easily be bruteforced and people would have their accounts compromised.
So, my account will be locked and I need to make this thread every time I reset my password via secret question?

Have you found which sites were compromised? Maybe some site had a leak and that password was used to guess on a bunch of your other stuff and eventually led to bitcointalk.
No. Embarrassed
