Also understand that, the fact the project you pick interest in hasn't been red flagged as scam on the forum, doesn't automatically gaurantee the authenticity of the projects. The signs used by ICO scam bursters can easily by bypass by scamners that put some time into disguising themselves to avoid the radar of this scam bursters. Instead of using fake image as team members they could avoid updating the team members or not Plagiarized an already existing project's whitepaper, etc.

Preferable you should avoid investing in any ICOs since it's unprofitability resulting to 99.9% of them, all falling. IEOs on the other hand, aren't even safer, investing through any of the crowdfunding system, only enrich project developers.

That's just half the work you need to do before you even commit on investing some money in a ICO project. You should remember that aside from doing background research regarding if the team is legit or not you should also need to know if the project is really going forward with their plans and if they are really dedicated to the things they set for the project. This is where you will know if your money is really worth it for them or is it the right time to jump out due to the signs that it will turn out bad in the future.

Imo my opinion newbies can mostly ignore any other project. The only project that newbies should invest is Bitcoin

The risk of losing money is too high, even in bitcon. Those other projects are way too risky, most of them scams (even coin in top100cmc)
