i also don't get the reason behind choosing altcoins between rank 30 to 200, rather 1-30 could be best deal. Although bitcoin Isn't altcoin imo. But I guess, op already holding top altcoins and looking for altcoins with such rank due to making extra money during bull session. With such rank no one can guarantee any of altcoin and how such altcloins will response during bull. So op have to analysis himself. Within 200 rank, KSM, KCS, aptos, Algorand, Sui, Fantom, arb could be good in my opinion. But As i can see these are already pumped & doing good these days

I bet some of my money on EGLD, because I think EGLD has a very good project and of course EGLD has great potential for the price to increase very high, therefore EGLD is included in my portfolio and I make it a long-term investment, because I am sure that one day EGLD will definitely enter the top 10 on coinmarketcap and coingecko, so by investing in EGLD now, I will get a lot of profit in the future (when the next bull run occurs).
Mine was only some low-price coins from that rank range because I only have a low budget for altcoins investment because I'm not the kind of high-risk taker that will gonna use every dollar for investment when there are some potential altcoins that will have a high chance to grow in the next years to come. Not having it is just a miss for you which I will never like repeating itself just like how I missed the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin during the early stage. And yes, you are so right, if we are investing in altcoins at all, the first considerations are the top ones, and I prefer the first 15 in market capitalization, unlike the higher number called out by the OP.
If I can select about 7-10 from them, then I can later go to the low in capitalization but with good projects. It is after then that I will end the selection with the new projects with good prospects. You better start making "hay when the sun shines," time is not waiting for anybody.

majority of the altcoin prices are mooning though. he prepares the layer1 because its usually the one that is going up the first. i think every L1 that claims ETH killer will go up without killing.

Am not holding coins below rank 20 , I am not a risk taker so no way that I will be gathering some kind of project from new team and I hate being trapped again a I have experienced the same thing in the past .twice that I become a victim that's why never that i trust new coin/token but I am for old project now I kept chasing ranking coins instead.
Doge and SHIB are good coins and I think they will show huge pump once Bull season started. Every altcoin is not trustable but there are some meme coins in altcoins like Shiba and doge and other altcoins like ethereum which can make everyone profitable if a person possess great knowledge about it. Bitcoin is the only coin that cannot be compared with other coin but some altcoins are also full of profit therefore we cannot neglect its profit too. There is still time for accumulation so i am not sure people will share their altcoin to others if their marketcap is low. The best way to make profits from an altcoin is to invest early when no one knows about it or there isn't much hype about the project. I am expecting that people are investing mostly on AI, Web3, GameFi narrative project that have the potential to become the next trending ones in the upcoming bull season and most of these early projects will rank beyond 200 in CMC in their early stages when their marketcap is still few millions of dollars.

But I have a mixed strategy between my portfolio, keeping mostly 75% in ETH, BNB, TON, combined with a few altcoins ARB, EDU, FIL, IOTA. Certainly, the real bull market is on the horizon, most likely in 2025 or possibly in last quarter of 2024, in accordance with historical patterns observed in Bitcoin. However, I believe that we are currently experiencing the initial stage of bull run, evident in significant surge in Bitcoin and Ethereum prices, as well as mainstream altscoins such as Solana, Chain Link, Avax and many other s have demonstrated strong performance in the ongoing mini rally.
