It's very attractive to the libertarian viewpoint if we can explain it properly.
I'm better with code than with words though.

Satoshi Nakamoto, 11/14/2008

Where did he/she/they say that?

Satoshi wrote that in an email from November 14th, 2008, sent by hum to the cryptography mailing list.

Other great quotes that impressed me:

If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context.  WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet's nest, and the swarm is headed towards us.

"If privacy is outlawed, only outlaws will have privacy" -- Phil Zimmermann

"Unlike the communities traditionally associated with the word "anarchy", in a crypto-anarchy the government is not temporarily destroyed but permanently forbidden and permanently unnecessary. It's a community where the threat of violence is impotent because violence is impossible, and violence is impossible because its participants cannot be linked to their true names or physical locations." -- Wei Dai

"A specter is haunting the modern world, the specter of crypto anarchy." -- Tim May

"I grew up with the understanding that the world I lived in was one where people enjoyed a sort of freedom to communicate with each other in privacy, without it being monitored, without it being measured or analyzed or sort of judged by these shadowy figures or systems, any time they mention anything that travels across public lines." - Edward Snowden

I was quite tired of the dominance of grandiloquent quotes, half of which is simply a retelling of simple truths, but a more ornate language.

Therefore, I will be brief: Hello there

You're gonna die.

It's more about the saying I've heard or read once, but for real if you remember and understand that, you'd like to change something. No matter what you do, it (once more) won't matter when you die. Hense you'd better live your best life right now, choose whatever you'd like to and as a result, become a happy person.

Mines are:

You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

Always forgive your enemies. Nothing annoys them so much.

It is better to be hated for what you are than be loved for what you're not.

Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.

Yesterday is a history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift from God, which is why we call it the present.

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

If you can't explain it to a six years old, you don't understand it yourself.

We don't see things as they are. We see them as we are.

Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.

If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairy tales. If you want them more intelligent, read them more fairy tales.

The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.

For me, the best quote that always comes to mind is the one that comes from Kurt Cobain, "No one dies a virgin, life f**ks us all". Anyway you want to see it, it really goes back to reality on a day to day basis for a normal citizen.
