That is pretty much the same for me as well. Since I used to gamble a lot last year it made me learn many things.
I had committed many mistakes in the past which helped me in limiting my losses in 2021.
So it was a pretty good year for me when talking about gambling and I think the same will happen in 2022 as well.

One of my biggest mistakes last year is using the cash out button way too often. Some sportsbooks have the option to cash your ticket while the match is in progress but it comes at a slightly reduced payout depending on the current live odds. Instead of letting the bet ride until the end I sometimes pull my bet out last minute whenever the team i'm betting on is barely making improvements and then they'll suddenly get a lead to win the match. With that said i've missed a lot of potential profits and at the same time saved some losing tickets, we could say it goes both ways but i'm more curious about the amount of profit I could've gained if I didn't use the feature too often than I should've.

My mistakes last year is that I didn't use big money to gamble which is the reason why my money i won was very small. Many gamblers used experience to win more money from gambling and it is a stable winning they are enjoying  in the community which is difficult for me to win every day with my strategies.
From this new year, I will start using experience to gamble with big money so that I can recover all that I have lost last year. This year I will do everything possible to be counted among successful gamblers in the community.

As for my experience last year, I feel that I was very reckless when I think about it now because I was so excited last year that I didn't care about the rules and my financial management, causing me to lose some of my valuable assets due to gambling.
but this year is different, I have now started for self-control and less ego when it comes to gambling.
New Year, the spirit must be new Cheesy I'm optimistic about what I'm doing right now

Second biggest gambling error for 2021 was underestimating the tendency for athletes to take rest games where they coasted on not needing wins to qualify for playoffs. Competition for teams needing wins to become eligible for wild cards and the post season, remained fierce in the mid to late season. There were definitely a few lessons that were learned as well, regarding rest days for teams and the effect it has upon performance.

Or athletes resting because of Covid-19 health and safety protocols like what is happening in the NBA right now. I usually bet on NBA so sometimes NBA players need to take a rest at the last minute so I didn't take this into considerations or not reading enough news as to who's who in the health and safety protocols. But now before betting, I have to check first so that I have a higher percentage of winning for this year.

Maybe this year I'll correct myself, because last year I made the biggest mistake in gambling. I've shared it through a thread Be a Responsible Gambler. I shouldn't have done it, and the impact of the massive loss is still reflecting on my daily life. It looks enjoyable from the outside while making small wins, but wasn't able to overcome once losing big. So, this year I want it to be no mistake year.

My biggest gambling mistake for 2021, was not making more of an effort to include big data in my analysis. Many in fantasy sports have included big data in their picks for years now. The technology is accessible and available. There isn't much of a valid excuse not to pursue it aside from complacency and laziness.

Definitely need to make more of opportunities available, and make the obvious adaptations to get ahead. 2022 is just a number and another year.

I believe some of us would have made some mistakes too from one way or the other which I believe you will amend in this new year. I am wishing you all in this gambling board happy new year. Do not let us forget the rules, we should not be addicted, we should be mindful of managing our funds and use the amount we can afford to lose while gambling, we should take gambling just for fun itf it and not a business borna way to make money.

I wish us all success in this new year.

Gambling should be fun it is something every gambler should realize, mine is not able to stop when I have to stop, this has caused me a lot of depression, I have a job the next day but I was late because I'm trying to recover all my losses, this is not right, the player should allocate what he is comfortable in losing and learn to stop there, and he should stop whether he is losing or winning because of the time allocation is already over, I'm glad that I overcome this, now I can allocate funds and time and this does me good.

It's funny to think that everyone else is trying to better theirselves, learn from their mistakes, become discipline and such while I am here trying to figure out if I could try getting my feet wet again on gambling especially in terms of options trading established by that one particular casino. LOL

Even though, I am planning to gamble once again, learning and understanding your financial capacity is probably the most important thing to consider before making such move in this space. You don't wanna mess with your mental and financial state at the start of the year!

I am happy for you, and I also hope that everyone who made mistakes in gambling will learn from their mistakes and correct it.

Gambling is fun as long as you know how to control yourself because, in the first place, gambling is entertainment, not something you do for consistent return of money, maybe some can do it but they are only a few who had an exceptional talent, majority of us will just have to pay for the expenses in return of entertainment but we should also be a responsible gambler at the same time.

Yeah, the only time that you truly make a mistake is if you come into gambling with the wrong mindset.

If you feel like that you are gambling more than you can afford to lose, or chasing losses, or anything of that nature, then that is when you know you are in deep trouble.

And this is regardless of whether you win or lose at the end of the day. If you lose, but you had fun at least, that is actually totally okay. But if you win but you chased your losses without control, that is still an issue.

Good that you have made mistakes in gambling. Hope you continue to do so this 2022 still. There are lots of mistakes that I have made but not addiction so far because  I followed the advice of the users here such as only betting on sports. But in sports betting isn't mistake-proof so I lost money too. I couldn't track but I'm sure I profit more than my loss. Hope to have fewer losses this 2022. Happy new year.

No new year's resolution for me. Can't promise  Grin

^ Definitely right, we had all mistakes in gambling in different ways nor addiction is a very common thing that could happen to us.
My gambling mistakes sometimes I don't have control of myself but it that worse to OP situation because when all my money wipeout I have quickly decided to stop and not to pursue once I have a loss. Probably most of us here are already aware of those consequences of being addicted to gambling we know how to stop it. Let us help ourselves not to become on that stage because addiction is the most tougher to recover once we are there and I hope this year 2022 we should learn from our mistakes in 2021.

I'm glad to share that I didn't commit mistakes in my gambling journey last year for I have already learned my lesson from the previous mistakes that I made. I already learned to have self-control and self-discipline in gambling which makes decision-making easier this year. I hope that we could all have another successful gambling journey this year. It will surely be challenging again but may we all gain the winnings and profit that we're all aiming for.

I have kept my betting activities during 2021 to a minimum. It wasn't an easy year for anyone considering the pandemic, the lookdowns, and all the deaths. Since I didn't travel a lot, I didn't gamble either. The last thing I want to do is cause further harm to my family by making reckless decisions such as gambling away funds that could have been spent in a smarter way.

Stay safe out there during 2022. Don't be weak and become a victim to all kinds of addictions.

My 2021 started really good the first four months up until April,I started playing slots and won often really good amount of money but it was after April that I lost a really huge amount from my emergency fund that I use to be safe from some other crazy lock down.I sat down really sad, laid down in bed and started thinking really cold headed,I promised to myself I will never ever touch the emergency fund again and so far I did it,I kept the promise,I only played occasionally F1 sport betting and nothing more, they were once a week or once a two weeks so I found this to be good to add to myself control which I think is now really good so far.

I intend to keep this behavior on 2022 too oh and Happy New Year everyone.

Happy new year to everyone and congratulations to OP for overcoming a possible gambling addiction in the process.

It's very rare to see someone who only plays gambling for fun even if he is winning so much or losing too much money on it, because mostly if someone is winning too much, his intentions towards gambling would change, instead of playing just for fun, he would start to gamble for money instead, same to those people who are losing too much.

For the last quarter of last year, I am somehow made comeback since I won some. But overall to evaluate my gambling losses last year, I was more within breakeven and lost.
But I also agree that I did not make any gambling mistakes, especially the most mistakes I made before in the past which is chasing my losses back.

My gambling mistakes from 2021...

Setting rules...and breaking them

Casually betting on games which I have not first done some form of research,
Lazy betting.

Chasing losses, eventhough I know its not a good practice, I lost my discipline
after losing a string of games and started betting recklessly to make back

I did not make any gambling mistake last year, this is because I have made a mistake in the past which taught me ways to manage my money. I later had to reduce my gambling activities, destroyed my credit card as I haven't been using crypto for gambling at the time until I learned how not to be addicted to gambling.

Lol, same here, but I did destroyed my credit card but not because of gambling because I don't used it to gamble.

What I enjoyed this previous year is that gambling is fun, it depends on how you take it. Even if I lose this time, I am not sad, I use the amount of money I can afford to lose, this is even just less than 5% of my income, even lower at times.

Of course, it's always fun to gamble, specially if you are winning. The hardest part is that when you are in a losing streak because your mind says go and continue and try to bounce back and recover. But the other side says you need to control your self and stop.

I believe some of us would have made some mistakes too from one way or the other which I believe you will amend in this new year. I am wishing you all in this gambling board happy new year. Wish you all the best as well mate, and you are right, don't let ourselves get addicted. Have self control and really gamble money that we can afford to lose.
