I want real digital currency and not all this fake bullshit!   I want a coin with a definable UNIT and an elastic supply.

I recommend  1 unit of currency = 1 joule of work and the distribution to be directly to the account holders not the miners

NXT sounds interesting. But I don't really get why people are so into it so soon. It's cool that it's 100% Proof of Stake. But it's also closed-source, so how can anyone trust it? At the same time, how do you even get NXT-coins? Seems like you have to buy them since they've all been pre-mined.

Earthcoin just added to two exchanges and coinmarketcap - looks like a really strong dev team - wouldn't be surprised to see this one spike.

Catcoin -- it's what you'd get if you combined Bitcoin with DOGE. It's exactly what 2014 needs Smiley

Just from learning, watching these boards, etc...I've come to change my mind several times about what a good coin is Cheesy

I'm HOPING of course, that the ones that I was generously given coins will do well. But I do have favorites that I actually had to spend a little money on because I would watch how well they were doing over the course of time. I really hope Argentum will do well. Also Diamond and Emerald, just because of my love for rocks. I can't quite afford cryptobullion, or bitbars, and I love craftcoin, gamecoin, lottocoin and sexcoin because it seems they are more niche coins. My mining is atrocious so I gather at giveaways often, in hopes that hanging on to a few may help in the long run.

Mainly, though, I've learned I have to invest in a proper way to mine, and that's coming. I was wanting to get worldcoin, but i have consistent issues with the blasted wallet. So, that's gonna be a no for now. Finally, I'm gettin me some nxt today. I have a whopping 14 of them, and need more! I've never traded a thing in my life, and now,Im addicted as hell. (pennies worth of course,  I gotta practice!)

My picks, at least for 2014...

Peercoin (most definitely, large community, much older coin than many others and brings something new to the table)
Xivra? (maybe, or maybe not, but one of the few coins that appears to be more of a community project and has a fair no pre-mine, no insta-mine launch)
Stablecoin? (good community, fair coin, quite popular in china)

Honestly though it could be any number of coins that will be successful, or semi-successful. There will be multiple successful coins, not just one, and around 95%-99% of coins will die within the first 5 years (or have very, very few users).

Also, animal coins will die out within a few years, I am 99.9% sure of that. Not a good investment, more of a novelty joke coin for kids.

Hows abouts we all follow Chris180Z's example and give some reasons for liking the coins we like?

I'm backing Peercoin long-term because I don't think the environmental issue is going to go away. Energy efficiency is going to be the name of the game in years to come. Or if we can't reduce the energy used, it should be put to good use, like Primecoin and Gridcoin are trying to do. Peercoin is also resistant to 51% which might become important when the big bad government comes to shut us down.

I'm holding Worldcoin at least until Scharmbeck launches in February. Either Scharmbeck will lead to more merchants accepting WDC (like Coinbase does for BTC) and widespread adoption or the hype surrounding Scharmbeck will make it a profitable pump 'n' dump. Win-win for me.
