It is a great idea of him, if all the big groups/company/channels start to use bitcoin as their payment then bitcoin will flourish all over the net. I appreciate that act from Nurdrage, it gave a good support to the bitcoin.
I hope all the online big businessmen use bitcoin.

Thank you.

I love what Valerian253 is doing and has been instrumental in helping us get [NSWF] NakedBitcoins.com and its clips.  So far we've had a few dozen buys so far and no major problems. We are currently talking to a major porn star who has agreed to put up some clips. More to come.

0.25$ for a video? I would rather pay for a month subscription rather than to pay for each video.
However, it's nice to see a progress on Bitcoin.

Are you still hosting the videos on youtube or are you running it off your own servers? {I did not spot this in the FAQ section} I tried it, but I find it is

a bit slow... so I was just wondering where you hosting this service. I am all for innovation based on micro payments, but a big proponent of FREE

educational stuff on Bitcoin. If he turns all his subscribers to Bitcoin users, it will be a win for all of us.  Wink Good luck.

Personal Text Space Not For Sale
Loading is slow. Even though I do not really like his video, I paid 0.25 USD worth of Bitcoin to unlock the video. I hope that he will continue to support Bitcoin.

Sad is not a YouTube initiative but an user one.
I think there are a lot of other people that accept payment with bitcoin also on YT.
It could be positive because more people decide to adopt, and share with other people so!

Yes, its a User initiative and once more people take such initiatives then it will be good.
Someone has to start and it good to see this.

I guess it's good news but I find it comical that it's 2016 and a youtuber starts accepting Bitcoin and all of a sudden it's news worthy. It makes you wonder how unknown and unadopted Bitcoin really is, for most people it still is an obscure internet currency that hackers or people buying/selling illegal drugs use. It's sad but it's true and you can only blame Bitcoin.

I find it comical that you replied upon reading only the OP as if there's a sig campaign in play. In case you missed it, the brand's been accepting bitcoins since 2011, about a month prior to myself learning about Bitcoin.

Looks like a great concept but many youtube viewers are really young, most of them don't even know what bitcoin is.
Let alone know how it will work out, I doubt this type of thing will take off.

Let's talk in a year Wink

We need the "young" to pick up on bitcoin and when they do it will grow.  The concept is great and it is a start to something you might see more of.

Your country may be your worst enemy
There are so many amateurs videos available for free, I doubt I'll ever pay to watch one. This could only work for real full length movies, but it's a nice idea. I'm sure it could work if they manage to get good content.

I've had mixed reception to adding bitcoin to my video descriptions in 2011. a good deal of my viewers thought i was trying to push a ponzi scheme or questioned my intelligence for "falling" for one. While i did receive a few donations, and became good friends with one bitcoiner, on the whole I think it negatively affected my image as a youtuber.

While i do love the technological brilliance of the software (despite barely understanding how it works), I must consider how i am perceived by my viewers. On youtube, image is everything, and maintaining a certain image means i have to tone down how hard i promote bitcoin.

This is why larger youtubers are a bit reluctant to promote something like bitcoin that is perceived to be controversial or even questionably legal. Not because they actually think bitcoin is bad, but because they must maintain a certain youtube image.

As bitcoin becomes more widespread and less controversial, the uptake by youtubers will increase as well.

This seems like a really nice and cool idea. $0.25 to pay to watch for a video is not too bad of a deal.

The question, what he will do with piracy?

The revolution will be monetized!
Good idea, but annoying that you have to use Coinbase specifically

1 Upload your video

Connect your free Coinbase bitcoin wallet to PopChest. Then, upload your video. With micropayments, you can charge as little as $0.10 per view.

I want to be paid directly to my personal wallet, not some data collecting infrastructure bullshit. I hope we can have LN soon so we can be paid directly to our wallets in a decentralized way.

Originally, we built our platform on Mycelium and Hive…both open source wallets. That caused a lot of problems. For example, Hive stopped being developed. And, Mycelium Android works totally differently than Mycelium iOS (different dev teams). Every wallet out there works in their own unique way internally. It's impossible to support them all, so we went with the simple solution so we can focus on the actual media distribution platform rather than spending all our time troubleshooting bitcoin wallets.
That makes sense. Great work man!

The types of people who subscribe to youtube vids are younglings in the main. That's a generation accustomed to getting most of their media for free. I really can't see micropayments ever working in this type of scenario. Most are going to shop elsewhere.
