Having a provably fair system does not prevent the owner from cheating. What it does is to enable the players to verify whether the owner is cheating.
So "provably fair" makes no sense if the players don't actually verify their bets after playing.

The provably fair system is a standard in the bitcoin gambling community. Without I do not think you will get much visitors.

I recommend you to read my article about it on my website: http://dicesites.com/provably-fair to understand the basics.

For slots you can use the same method to generate a "game hash". With that hash, dice sites generate a number between 0-100. For slots you will have to use that generated hash to generate the results. Probably generate 3 numbers between 0 - ~10(?) for each reel? So that way you generate the 3 outcomes (each number represents an icon, #0 = big win, #1=bar, etc.) I agree you can also look at competitors to see how they do it.
