So why is this pumping now other than another round of dumb pump and dump? Looks like the usual -> stagnating price -> pump -> DUMP -> more stagnating price altcoin routine to me.

No. Only Bitcoin is worth more than ZEC right now. Number 1 bitcoin, number 2 is ZCASH, number 3 is Byteball, number 4 is Dash and number 5 Ethereum. ZCASH to the mooooooon!!!! 
What was make the zcash coin worth rather than ethereum and dash? any thought? I don't see anything that can give a support for zcash will worth a lot rather than ethereum and dash in the future.

Believe me, zcash will be in the top 9 cryptocoins in about 1 year. They are working togheter with Ethereum now. ZEC has got a lot more potential than monero. But the start of ZEC was quite strange. The price back then was way to high. ZEC started at the moon, they hit the earth next, and now we go up. Ride the pumps my friend to increase your bitcoin. Bitcoin wont go up. ZEC will.
That's true, it got potential, it can rise a lot in a year. But for now my friend, I don''t see any near pumps for it.
Miners gonna simply mine it and sell it on exchanges, dumping its value. I don't see any near support for it.
I think the whales are still accumulating. So it is better not to sell.

The best thing to do is stick with ETH and BTC for the time being than any coin. Zcash can correct at any moment unless we have some big announcement from the core team or from the developers. Till then investing into Zcash is pretty dangerous.
Even that was my thought but the price recovered really fast in the past couple of days and i was really surprised to see that move,it looks like all the anonymous coins made a rally and Zcash also joined that party,but i am not sure about the future,will try to enter once again after a small correction.The ZCash could replace the bitcoin if the bitcoin become hard forked, and one of them does not die very soon.

I got a couple of miners pointed toward Zcash for now, and figure I am mining them for about a third of the going market price. So I am in profit unless they drop to under $10 for a significant period of time.
Anyway, I believe Zcash has a future, but like most coins only four months into their existence it is currently in accumulation stage. We will probably not see a big breakout until closer to 2018.

For the time being, it is more profitable to mine the ETH directly. So it might be better to mine the ETH and sell for ZEC.
There are 200 BTC+ being mined a day, the majority of which must be sold by miners to cover expenses. Look at the buy walls and you do the math
Do you think the price will rise?
Yeah I think, because the reward of zcash is decrease everytime and it makes the supply is less time to the time.
