There is absolutely no chance that these notes will ever have any value beyond their collectible value. The only reason that people buy them is for the novelty of having real currency will absurd values.

They are fun to show friends, especially the 100 trillion dollar notes! People who believe that there is no way that the dollar could ever become worthless might think twice after seeing these. The U.S. has already started down this road with talk of a 1 trillion dollar coin.

Actual Zimbabwe currency: 1USD=8.72082 ZAR

Well, it is true that ZAR is used by Zimbabwe, but ZAR is the currency of South Africa (the South African Rand). Zimbabwe currently has no currency of its own.

I think Zimbabwe is the US somewhere down the line-hopefully not our lifetime. Watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ubJp6rmUYM
(Summary: In Zimbabwe, banknotes are only worth the paper they're printed on. Although, the notes shown in the film were of much smaller denomination; 20, 50, etc. So, to buy literally anything you have to pay in gold. So everyone mines gold all day, everyday. 1 loaf of bread goes for .1 gram of gold)
Yes, these notes are  a novelty. Even the coin/paper money collecting world has embraced them for their absurd nature. So whats funny is these things are worth money-and will probably be worth more soon. They're all over eBay for several dollars a note.
What I'm curious about is how that guy who does the YouTube video got all of his notes. Because even though the whole thing is a joke, he has A LOT of banknotes. Know what else is sad? I have seen a few videos where people are actually investing in these banknotes. They've sold all their silver and gold to buy these things and they're just waiting til "the US invests in Zimbabwe banknotes". Some people are SO DUMB.

I imagine most people know the story behind this. If you don't, type "Zimbabwe Banknotes" in a YouTube search.
People are actually selling things like Silver and Gold to buy these things. There is even talk about the US investing in Zimbabwe. Legally you must "Pay The Bearer". I just hope the country that takes control of Zimbabwe someday will honor these-because that WILL happen lol.

1 trillion coin is actually GOOD - it means that the Govt won't need to pay the feds interest.
