rule 1
do not trade with anyone you do not know or do not have the address of, to slap them with a wet fish, should they do you wrong.

rule 2
holding bitcoin is in itself a better investment plan then investing with third parties. thus the only trust you need is with yourself to hold

rule 3
if you do not know or trust someone or some business you are trading with, do not hand over more then you are prepared to lose

People should record with blood on his brains all those rules Wink

But you forgot the best one:

rule 0

Always use the common sense, sometimes is the less common of the senses Tongue

I don't get why so many people get rooked here  Huh

I have yet to lose a Satoshi and your money is safer with bitcoin not less safe. For whatever reason there seems to be an endless line of suckers who think "Double my money in two days!!! What could go wrong?" Or thinking that they should buy with PayPal after a million warnings.

A rule about bitcoin:
DON'T TRUST PEOPLE YOU DON'T KNOW.

It is money so they will try and talk you into giving it to them and being an anonymous way to receive it, is easy way for them to get it.
Be wary of giving it to just to anyone.

low fee but more scam

what about scammer ?

More Scam compared to what?
Scammers are everywhere.Avoid to deal with persons you don't know. That should be the most important rule.
For online deals, especially here in the forum, use escrow service!
That's should be it I guess.
Ahh yes and of course always hold your coins in your own wallets! You hold the private keys, you hold the coins!

Common sense is a great deterent to scams. A few basic ideas like "nothing is free" or "if it sounds too good to be true" will get you through the day. Add to that just basic security - something that's increasingly important in the digital age. You will be alright. Be smart, it's real money.

i see more scammer on the street to be honest than hacker stealing wallet online

so what's the matter here? incrementing the unneeded fuds right?

Hackers are not scammers tho. Bitcoin has an overwhelming amount of scams, specially when it comes to exchanges since they are not regulated, of course people is going to be afraid and they should because it's pretty easy for you to lose your bitcoins on exchanges, gambling websites, etc etc.

But scammer can be anyone.
I have been scammed many times(I think I broke a bitcointalk forum record when I got scammed twice or three times on the same day xD)
I learn from my mistakes, and learnt to use a escrow.
So yea, use an escrow so you can't get scammed.

If it sounds too go to be true, it probably is.

Also, a bit of common sense gets you a long way. If you really want to invest in something, you can always try it with a little money.

It might be a hard lesson, but atleast it doesn't cost much that way.

If you got scammed do not blame bitcoin because you can be scammed anywhere and with any currency so you have to deal with trust people and with trust sites that have perfect reputation and have good support to contact with if something went wrong

I get more nuisance telephone calls trying to scam me than attempts to scam me here, and if I was stupid enough to believe the nuisance telephone callers the consequences would be far worse for me than those from any bitcontalk scam. I had someone trying to tell me I had a virus and that I needed to give him remote control of my computer to fix it. He could have got enough information off my computer to financially finish me, and some people fall for such scams.

low fee but more scam

what about scammer ?

Where have you found this rebus? It's ok and understandable the part of your like about bitcoin. The same can be told about the fees which are low (even the miners have begun to give problems in this direction). But why the low fees must bring more scam? Which is the connection between the low fee and the scam. This cannot be understood by me. I appreciate your help in order to make more detailed comment. As for what about scammer this is easy to find. The scammer must be put in jail. If the Authorities will be able to be in touch with him.

It's easy for scammers to start new website or service and run away with the investments. how many scammers are now really caught by the authorities. It's hard for new people to find good investments when all this scammers can easy walk away with.

Every currency can get you scammed. Thats why you should use escrow for every transaction, no matter how big/small the transaction is.
For bigger transactions you should use multi-sig with an/multiple escrow, that would ensure you that the escrow wont run away with your btc.

More scam? Comparing to what? If you're comparing to fiat, I bet there are more people trying to get other's fiat than people trying to get other people's Bitcoin...

I think he means scam, where you buy something and it doesnt get sent.

Yes, this is an issue. Sure it is safe to order from known retailers, but if they are unknown and have no reviews, you are at risk, beacuse you cannot get your money back,
