I am already getting skycoins and we are not even at the 1600 block, how does that work?

Are you getting paid for each block found?  I will enable the pool if that's the case.

I'm a noob so I may be misunderstanding this but it seems that the coins have started at block 1500 instead of what was previously announced.

{
    int64 nSubsidy = 15 * COIN;

   if(nHeight < 1500) //no reward for 7 difficulty adjustments, diff should be 1 by then.
    {
        nSubsidy = 0 * COIN;
    }
   if(nHeight == 2) //premine for bounties, etc
    {
        nSubsidy = 10000 * COIN;
    }

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

uhhh.

it's not even 1600, but i already got coins in my wallet.

not complaining though.

That's because the following in the OP:

Quote
- block reward 0 until difficulty 1 (4900 blocks, this is to prevent a orphan fest at release, after 1 difficulty block rewards become 15 coins a block)

does not match the source code.  This coin actually retargets every 250 blocks and blocks started giving out coins at block #1500.

Wait so people are getting coins already? but no pools aloud yet that seems gay

Why not just start the difficulty at 1.0 wouldn't that be better than having people hash 0 blocks to 1.0 difficulty?

Its been answered a bunch of times on why scrypt-based coins always generally start at near 0 diff.

Didn't this same "no reward" concept kill american coin before it started? Why will anybody mine this when there is no reward?

Is it normal to find blocks only to have them rejected? First time solo mining any alt.
Thanks

It is yep.  Step 1) Get a block accepted  Step 2) Hope its not an orphan.
