Round 7 has finished, prices are up and Round 8 cards have been posted: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53699485

That Zion / Ja Morant card is going to fetch a pretty penny!

Got that right Ty, especially if Zion/RJ fetched $7k+ bc Ja is leagues better than RJ.

Some very odd sale prices imo. How does Ken Griffey Jr go for so little ?!  It’s obviously all about who’s name is hot right now, for the most part, but that’s not a great way of collecting if you’re hoping for stable/long term premium values. Trae Young , Zion, Pete Alonzo, Ja Morant etc are exciting young talents, but they’ve proved next to nothing.. Also seems baseball card collectors are not super keen on these with Griffey going for so little as well as Eloy Jimenez, who is an extremely elite young talent ..but he’s now hidden on Chicagos South side so he’s less known by the general masses but hardcore baseball fans/collectors sure know who he is. Not to mention baseball card collectors outweigh NFL and NBA combined by a large number.

Curious what others think in that regard.

I do agree somewhat with this assessment CHi.  The basketball rookie cards will go for crazy multiples over griffey or any card that is a baseball non rookie (current or recent current stars).  A subpar rookie will go for more than a non rookie superstar just the way it is, especially in basketball.  And it seems the collecting is tipping more towards football and basketball because most kids are playing that now a days where baseball is semi taking a backseat.

Yeah that’s what I what I was kind of thinking too. But, are there seriously any kids who even collect cards anymore..Sports cards ? I do know the market is nothing like it was when we were still peeing in public with our pants down at our ankles Wheelz, but I really don’t have a good grasp of what kids are collecting these days. However, few kiddos are buying these cards.  You’re 100% right about the rookies, esp 1 of 1s ..but they gotta hit the HOF path for them to be good mid- long term values. I remember I had a rare Harold Miner (baby jordan) rookie card I turned down a Mickey Mantle for ..that still stings lol. . So, still riskier than taking Ken Griffey an all time great who’s in many peoples top 5, but if they pan out like Steph Curry..they’ll be worth the value he got for sure.

Just saying.....ouch on that minor for mantle dis  Cheesy

Yeah it's not really the kids anymore like when we grew up it's more professional collectors and dealers.  Rookie cards than superstars.  These 1 of 1s that go in the $1k range are good buys.  They should appreciate nicely.

For the 1st card from the 5th round  at $7673.48 the Zion dual card sold.....

Now we see where the rest sell for....

Shocked. That's a steal based on comparisons

it's a dual not a solo that's why

Will Zion go 1st?
Will he go for $60K like Kobe?

My guess is $40k for the zion rj dual

Quite possible.
We are at the half-way point ($50K) and all 10 cards are still up.........
