Thanks for posting this data, Ratimov.  Obviously I missed it initially, else I would have posted here earlier.  Am I seeing that chart correctly, that 55.5% of posts were in the altcoin marketplace section??  I would have lost that bet if I'd wagered on where most of the posts had been.

I was also surprised when I counted posts in the main section of the forum. I always thought that the popularity of altcoin themes is observed only in my locale, but in fact it is everywhere. Too bad we don't see as many posts about bitcoin on the main bitcoin forum as we do in the altcoin section.

Perhaps we should rename this place altcointalk?  More seriously, it shouldn't come as that much of a surprise.  People like to work on projects and build things.  The Bitcoin community here has turned highly maximalist to the point where I've seen people get negative feedback just for mentioning other currencies (even myself).  This toxic attitude has chased away so many users that even on this very website the altcoin section is more popular, and this is the home of Bitcoin discussion on the internet!  I think the community needs to relax a bit with the whole boy who cried wolf scam attitude, and start respecting people who build things that interact with the Bitcoin blockchain.  Not to bash this very thread, but people give out more merit to useless statistics than they do to long-running Bitcoin projects.  That would lead you to believe we want more statistics and less projects here.  I guess my point is that if people want Bitcoin to be discussed here more than altcoins, maybe start working on a Bitcoin project, or be a part of discussion about a Bitcoin project.  That beats sending all your merit to the next LoyceV thread while calling those building on the blockchain scammers...  We as a community are the only ones to blame for how this board has fallen so drastically in quality over these last 5 years.

The Altcoin section is huge, and without knowing the statistics I'd say most reports are done within that section. I think hilariousandco suggested that the main Bitcoin marketplace also has a hefty contribution, but I don't see all of those so couldn't possibly comment accurately on that.

My post count has seriously dropped in the last year or two--I'm not even in the top 200 for January, and that likely would not have been the case in 2016-18.  Can a person get burned out on bitcointalk?  Is it because we've had a bunch of interesting and drama-creating members leave?  Somebody please explain it to me, because I'm searching my soul but finding no answers.
I wouldn't say burned out, but I think most users that have been here longer than five years have taken a break at some point. Whether that's because of Bitcointalk, or just Bitcoin in general. Life does seem to get in the way at times which you preferred that it didn't. I imagine Covid, and that whole scenario has effected tons of users posting habits. I know at one point I was rushed off my feet, and then suddenly dead the next week. I've only now gained normality in the last few months, where I'm starting to find more time not only to post, but contribute more via moderating.

I suspect there are users that could get burned out here, depends on their habits. As we know, there's quite a few users that either attracted drama or participated in discussions which resulted in drama, and I think that can definitely lead to burn out. I don't think that quite fits the description of your habits though, I expect you've either stopped posting in discussions you've had before or might not be as motivated or eager based on your circumstances. Some users will constantly participate in the same discussions, over, and over without an issue. I don't think that's something you do really.

Nice to see so many merits being given on the local boards, BTW.
