Well big blocksizes and pools  making their blocks >500kb has broken Bitcoin
all stratum nodes turned off while we downgrade bitcoinds Sad

what an absolute fuckup Sad

ecoinpool nodes eu.ozco.in:8332 and us.ozco.in:8332 are still ok

What should alleviate the hysteria is pools not responding to the clamorings of a few repeat trollers to enable faster block growth with an agenda of gambling more cheaply.

Yep, but sadly that battle has done been lost.

So now we're left with full disclosure of all pools to see where they are at and why!!!!!!!!!!!

Sam

In this new size, could you spare smaller room for satoshi transactions and more to catch others?
Is this the right way to do it?

Size is not an issue anyway:

Block size of ozcoin's last blocks, with count of '1dice' ins or outs (of total transactions):

Think for yourself
new eustratum.ozco.in is ready to go
about to move DNS
stratum nodes will have
-blockmaxsize=520000
except au.ozco.in which will remain on default block size
ecoinpool (getwork) nodesd will remain on default

over the next 24 hours we will be doing updates to bitcoinds and other software on all mining nodes, we will do one at a time, stats /website / db server will not be affected.

EDIT
Mining node updates underway
eustratum.ozco.in back us.ozco.in stratum mining back
taking au.ozco.in stratum mining down next
stratum.ozco.in will be last

Graet,
Could you post this information over at this new thread organofcorti started this morning?

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1606559

This thread should help alleviate the block size hysteria at bit.
Thanks,
Sam

having a fat time Cheesy
only one to go straum.ozco.in is about to go offline for a couple of hours, everything else is back Smiley

EDIT:
That was epic
All stratum servers now online and updated to bitcoind 0.8 and blockmaxsize=500000 (except au.ozco.in - left at defaults for time being) plus some other minor updates

Best wishes

Graet,

"Soft block size limit reached, action required by YOU"
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/soft-block-size-limit-reached-action-required-by-you-149668

What is Ozcoin's policy on blocks > 250K?  I suggest it should block SatoshiDice transactions when the block size is too large.

after learning more we have decided to increase block size

we also need to update bitcoinds and some other code on all mining nodes
when the new eustratum server is online we will go around the mining nodes one at a time doing all the required updates, this could mean downtime on each node of up to 2 hours, only 1 mining node will be offline at a time and will not affect website/database or statistics, once again I strongly encourage Ozcoin miners to set a different Ozcoin node for 1st and 2nd failover Smiley

The email below is ambiguous, at best.

Based on the "newlc", I'm assuming it refers only to Litecoin mining.

Hello Ozcoin miners,
The time has come to close this pool and move to the new DGM/PPS Pool at newlc.ozco.in

Why do you say there's no need to increase block size? I don't recall seeing any such discussion in #bitcoin-dev ... the plan has been to see what miners do when this limit is reached, which has now happened.

As I said on this post here:

  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=149668.0

if nothing is done then transaction fees will steadily increase until small payments with Bitcoin no longer make sense and it's no longer cheaper than PayPal. Which will throttle growth and just generally make Bitcoin less attractive to everyone, ultimately reducing usage and revenues for everyone.

The fees can always be scaled back (ie from 0.005 to 0.0005).
