I don't think it's a good idea to start trading investment with only a hundred usd, but if you have no other choice then you can do it anyway. But do it with cheap coins so that you can get a small profit. I can give you an idea for the price, it should not be more than $0.03 per coin, and of course, remember the trade volume over last 24 hours.
Of course it is enough to start trading on crypto market. Had it been the market is like when it was in 2017, $100 us dollar will have fetch you $200 in a week or so. But the present market condition will not allow that to work out.

If you are starting with such a low amount of money then your progress is going to be very slow, even if you were able to identify a coin that went up 100 times you will only have 10000, which is a respectable amount of money, but not enough to make you a millionaire or anything like that, so if you really want to make profits in this market you have no option but to invest more money or accept the fact that your profits are going to be low.

there is a lot of crypto that you can start trading even with small amount like $110, you can look for crypto with the price below $1 which is good to start, you can get more profit to that if their prices will increase.
The best type of coins you are supposed to venture into is coin below the price of $1. Coin with price below $1 and with high market volume is the best project to invest into, ETH is good but you can't progress unless you have huge amount to start trading.

As of now, the market is in the bear run so expect that you are not going to have a big progress that fast, please wait until the bull run comes and I'm sure you'll be happy when that time comes. And you $100 is a small one but it is a good start as a beginner, you might not want to put all of your money in just one shot if you know you'll be at risk, especially you are just new here in the Trading world.

its nice to start with small amount so 100$ is okay to trade with. I think you must prefer to trade in altcoins, cause they are cheap and learn to play the market and always do buy low sell high 
if I think that with 100 usd of capital I think it is enough to trade, because the capital used for trading is up to the person who wants a little or a large amount of money to trade.

Please buy your money with an altcoin that has just finished ICO and is only traded in the exchange. Because usually the price is definitely going down dramatically, for example, please buy IMT tokens
In addition to antsam's advice, have a buy order with these tokens at a price very much lower than ICO price, say 50% off because it can likely to reach that level right after the ICO and in times it has just listed to an exchange. That's a trend people here see.
