I'm guessing it will hit 10k$ in the summer of 2016.

Any evidence or reason to back up your estimate/timeframe?

Maybe this one:

Future seems fantascientific in this chart but when btc was valued 1$ nobody would have bet it will reach 1000$, and the story repeats.

Bitcoin has been passing from one form to another, at that point bitcoin was like a currency game for geeks, now that bitcoin has real business uses, we can say 10k is a good value.

I just bought my first bitcoin.
I'd be shocked, if it would worth 15 times more in a short time.
Just 100% would be nice in a few months.

i think we will see 10,000 later this year. just a hunch Cool

If we hit $10,000 in 2014, it'll be a serious bubble.  Check out http://cryptocoinstats.com/priceforecaster.php

When the big positive news will arrive (probably within 3months) we will cross 1000$ again then 1500$ up to 2000$? Maybe even 3000$?

I guess it depends on how big and how positive the news is.
If it is some really big companies like google, ebay or facebook accepting bitcoin, the price increase will be amazing, though I don't think it will happen anytime soon. Smiley

It could happen sooner than you think

Nothing is decided yet obviously

I think so too. Bitcoin adoption could roll out pretty fast once a few high street merchants or giants such as ebay or amazon start accepting it and I don't think ten thousand will seem like such a ridiculous figure then.

Bitcoin has been known to experience serious bubbles before  Wink

I can't even begin to imagine what will happen when that bubble pops. It'll be a massive crash, lol. But 10k is not happening anytime soon. Come on,we're at $600,that too with so much effort put into it. I doubt it'll ever go so high.

Why wont it? I imagine that figure will be a conservative estimate if bitcoin is fully embraced by merchjants or the mainstream. If you can spend it in half of the shops on the highstreet and on places like amazon and ebay then I'm sure the actual price will be many multiples of tens of thousands.

Same story every year, it's impossible that btc will do higher than 1$, 10$, 100$, 1000$, now it's 10000$ turn.
When btc will be worldwide adopted, the value will find its place, but we have to wait more 3 or 4 bubbles  Smiley

Forget the $1m & $100,000 predictions, what's everyone's opinion on when bitcoin will hit $10,000?

Im gonna have to say by the end of my senior year... in other words, mid 2016. That is hoping that bitcoin keeps going up and up exponentially like it has been.

This is an estimate I can get behind. 2016 gives at least 1.5 years. I feel we'll at least be at 2-3k by then. 10k doesn't seem out of the question. These people claiming this year... really guys? Really?

well, it may be a *bit* farfetched to say that we will continue with the pace of the April and November 2013 bubbles. But *if* we did have another bubble this year, 5 figures is really not that farfetched at all, i'd say.

It takes a LOT more to take the market cap from, say 1.5bn to 15bn (10x increase) as opposed to 150m to 1.5bn (also 10x). We're going to hit heavy resistance long before 10k and that will need to be broken through before progressing up.

Yea it may seem like a 10x jump should be just as easy as the first 10x jump, but you must think of the fiat value equivalent like ranlo said. 150m-1.5b is not too much, but when you start getting into 1.5b-15b and 15b-150b is where things start getting tricky because that is a large sum of fiat

US fiat is created at a rapid rate, way more than the rate of (fake) growth and once the values, safety and force of Bitcoin is recognised a value of tens of Billions will me mandatory
