Oh wow, 1080MHz @ 1.25V. I wonder what kind of cooling they used?

Hmm - i can't wait to get home today and see in person one of my machines I'm just screwing around with reach 580MH/s with stock 5770 and 6790 installed...didn't think they would go that high (I thought the most from a 5770 was about 240MH/s and from a 6790 about 220MH/s) as per this chart: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison

And I'm glad that big block finally ended!
You really have to oc/ov a 5770 to get that high. I keep mine at 960mhz, stock voltage, and get 215-220mh. I don't want to mess with the issues overvolting can bring, but as always, to each his own.
Just my opinion, but the issues overvolting can cause are not worth it.  If you're only air cooling, expect the life of your video card to be drastically reduced.  If you're water cooling, everything may be fine, but it's still a coin toss in my experience.  Maybe I just suck at installing water blocks properly, though...

I guess its only deserving that a 20 block day is followed by a day of long blocks!
The day is improving, however!  Smiley

I just set my NMC donation to 100% then I don't have to faff with converting them, they're worth hardly anything anyway! Unless you have a high hash rate it takes a long time to generate any meaningful amount.

I'm just going to let them accrue in my bitminter account until they actually (if) become worth something.

Needs more jiggawatts
I guess my main point is that IMHO it is a higher priority to have variable difficulty working with either GBT or stratum than to have multiple pool servers. You might never need an extra pool server with these other pieces in place.

You're right. The reason I wanted to do multi-server first is because it better allows testing all these new features separate from the main server. It was a bit of a hack the last time I did this (running a test port).

I'll do it in two phases though. Just some quick changes first so I can more easily run a test port. Then I'll get in the var diff, GBT, Stratum. After that I'll add full multi-server support and actually set up more servers. Finally comes the multi-server and multi-pool support in BitMinter client, which is probably the most complex piece.

I wish there was a way to redeem NMC natively within the bitminter site instead of screwing around getting an NMC wallet lol
I created an account at Vircurex and generated a NMC address there.  I just deposit my NMC from BitMinter to that address and then trade them for BTC.

I just use an online wallet here to trade to BTC. It's really not too cumbersome.

DERP  - I checked on there a while ago and didn't even notice the online wallet facepalm.jpg.

Thankyou very much!

Are you sure you would even need extra servers with variable diff? You already have rollNTime support so the most requests coming to the pool server are share submissions. With a variable diff solution that uses X-Mining-Hashrate you could greatly reduce the pools current load. You could also fall back to the server calculating the var diff to keep share submission below a maximum threshold of say 24 shares per minute.

I guess my main point is that IMHO it is a higher priority to have variable difficulty working with either GBT or stratum than to have multiple pool servers. You might never need an extra pool server with these other pieces in place.
Yeah, but a US server would be nice. I can easily hit < 0.01% rejects on MaxBTC just because my ping to their server is ~30ms.
The ping time factor is overrated. I've tried different servers from the same pool located at 250ms and 50ms ping times and the reject rate was identical. On the other hand, changes to the pool setup itself cause larger changes to the reject rate.

Great to hear the new server changes are working out Smiley

Yes, variable difficulty will be coming soon. I'm currently working on some changes to support multiple mining servers. I thought that might be a good idea to do first as it will make it easier to test var diff.

It could also be useful to have a couple more servers when ASICs turn up. Wink
