Whats with block 183419 "minted by external" ?

Long running transactions in the database kept the pool from recording who created the block. Lacking this info, the pool is acting like the block was created outside the pool. No worries, the block is fine, all proofs of work recorded and coins are split out to miners as usual. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm looking into why some transactions are running slowly. May have to tune the database a bit.

Good thing this didn't happen during the mint race. Wink

SSL certificate renewed, sorry for the trouble.

First I tried to renew it too early, then I missed the renewal window. I better put that in my calendar.

It seems the SSL certificate has expired.
At least that's what my browser is telling me.
Let me know whats up.

Kind of a dumb question but my max expected per block used to be around .3 and now it seems to stop at .18, is that just due to the increased difficulty?

More likely increased hashrate of the pool. Higher pool hashrate=more blocks per day, but obviously those pay less each for a given personal hashrate. In the end the net result is only lower variance.

Good job, Im sure we'll see a peak in hashrates, I for one will abandon undervolting and clocking for this weekend asfar as weather permits Smiley

Strangely the hash rate increase has been modest, and now we are past half way in the race with a namecoin block in second place. I wonder if we'll see any big miners make a move before it's over.

Thanks for the answer Doc. You might see some new faces in the top ten in the coming weeks. Wink

Awesome! Smiley By the way, how is it working out cashing out through OKpay?

There is an issue last I checked with OKpay not accepting coins for some reason.I have not checked back in a couple of weeks. I will update you here in a bit.

I fear Im not entirely surprised. Your problem is called GPUmax. Most big miners have an account there, and if you do the math, even a 16BTC bounty hardly makes it worth the effort.

Imagine you have 100GH. That will net you on average ฿63 per day at 100% PPS, so over the course of the race, 126 BTC. On gpumax that will earn you >170 BTC. So even if you win all the jackpots, you still lost in the end unless you not only win the race, but also get lucky on short blocks.

Now I would have thought an event like this would attract more smaller miners that are currently mining on "competing" pools. Getting ~100% average on bitminter or say eclipse or ozcoin, is a wash, but having a shot at 16 BTC bonus is a nice extra, particularly if you have only a few GH,  so why not switch pools? I guess not enough people have read about this?

We'll have something bigger and better next time if miners like this. I just wanted to get this off the ground and give it a test run. Smiley

Doc, What is the theoretical limit for your server on hash rate at the moment?

It's been tested to 750 GH/s using GPUmax. It was barely breaking a sweat. So I know it handles 750 easily, but how high it can go I don't know.

does anyone know which performs better bitminters miner or diablo for a 7970?

If you test it, I'd like to hear how it goes. I don't have a 7970 myself, but I have been told the miner runs well on them.

Hashrate went up again for the fourth week in a row making Bitminter a middle tier pool. Another four weeks? Anyone want to bet on the probability of bitminter being a top tier pool by then?

That would be awesome. Smiley Hopefully new users keep joining, and there are enough FPGAs ordered among users of this pool to double the hash rate we have now.

I believe doc was looking for testers for that question a little while ago. It should be in thread somewhere.

can someone tell me how i can run diablo with bitminer?

Hijacked directly from the Bitminter.com homepage.

If you want to use a different miner: connect it to mint.bitminter.com:8332 and as login use your username and machinename separated by an underscore, e.g. "myname_mymachine". If port 8332 is problematic for you, you can use port 80 instead.

Hope it helps!
