I've only mined on BitMinter due to ease of use on my Mac.

So my question is, do all pools go through blocks this long? I know everything averages out, but can some pools vary between 40 and 60, and some pools between 1 and 99 CDF? How are some pools luckier than others?

Ghash.io had a 4 hour block a couple of days ago: it was a bit over 14 billion proof of work, so you are currently half way there Wink

Really strange the pool not finding a block for nearly 24 hours, when running at 360-440 TH/sec - at current difficulty the pool should be minting 5 blocks per day. Yes I know its not a given to get a particular amount per day and things do get unlucky now and then, this just seems wayyyy at the far end of 'very very very bad luck', which seems to happen to this pool now and then.

Probability theory would indicate that this will happen with 1% of our blocks. Why do you find it strange? Over time all pools hit 99% CDF blocks 1% of the time on average.

This is also the same pool that brings you minted blocks with 0 shares submitted Wink

Sometimes when a block is found after only a few seconds there is not time to register any work before the block is found.

Of course a little work has been done before it is found, it's not actually found with zero work.

Hodl!
Are you sure? Because I could fedex some unicorn blood drawn at midnight under a full moon to anoint the server.

Luck comes and goes, for all pools. There's no magic to ensure always being lucky.

We should be good up to 9,223,372,036,854,775,807 proofs of work aka "shares".

I hope that's not the block we are working on right now.

'The right to privacy matters'
korax  you will like them. I did some reading on github and antminer claims a max of 120gh so with the 2 gh overclock it looks like 60 sticks a pc.  the 49 port works well for me. I am looking at setting up a second 49 port and using a total of 60 sticks on the 2 .  this will also not stress the hubs or the psu's feeding them.

My goal is to run 60 antminers = 120 gh

14 ice furies   35 gh

and a hd7970 for ltc

all on the one machine.

right now I am running 37 ant miners running the  cgminer with the 2 gh oc

14 ice furies    running bfg miner with the overclock option

and the 1 hd7970. running gui miner

I seem to be doing okay and the machine is a nice money maker as is.

Not sure if it was a network blip or what it was. It looks like everyone are connected again?

And just as soon as I said it, I'm unable to connect again.

Are we down?  I can't connect, and pool hash power is dropping precipitously.

Website is up.

I contacted the anti ddos people. Let's see if they can figure it out. It looks like some users were unable to connect but are getting back a few at a time.

Mine reconnected just now.

Thanks, Doc!

Thanks man, really appreciate you taking the time to put that info up for me.  I've been reading the threads you linked and am starting to get a picture of what's going on, but really nice to see it in one place rather than grabbing pieces from several different posts.  I haven't done much config file writing since DOS, and never got into Linux, so I'm really out of practice.  Windows made me lazy.  The ants will be my only miners other than my video cards on the machine, so from what I've read so far it sounds like that will make things easier.  They might get here tomorrow, then the fun begins.  Grin

Thanks again,

Korxax
