i think people are embarrassed to say this.  that it is a girl's show.  and he is a boy.

that dosnt make any difference or atleast it shouldn't. if you like a show then you should be allowed to watch the show, hell im 24 and still watch kids shows, do i like watching them yes, if someone bugs me about it i dont care, i enjoy them and im happy to watch them.

as for the lad. no one in this day-an-age  should be bullied over anything they do, i feel sorry for him but i do hope when the bullies get a bit older they get bullied, let them feel what its like

No there doesn't, compulsory education needs to be abolished and clear self-defence laws made >_<
This might be the stupidest thing I've read in a long time

You could explain that maybe? Smiley And lol I hope you guys have actually tried reading the self-defence laws out there but if I go into detail with that I'll derail this whole thread.

You can always start a new one.

Be careful, or he might 'block' you. I've been 'blocked' by him at least twice now.

There are clear self-defence laws. Are you saying little kids should be kicking the shit out of each other each time somebody picks on them for liking My Little Pony?

This, this is precisely what causes mass shootings at schools and yes I went there so try not to turn the thread into a flamewar over my comment, while I haven't had to deal with shit like that I can totally understand it and I'm sure anyone else who's had to deal with scumbags at school know what it's like having to deal with that crap on a daily basis.

p.s. 'Bullying' is just a sugar coated word for harassment and assault that adults use to try and trivialise a crime people would otherwise go to jail for if they weren't so young

Seriously though who the fuck targets someone over a fucking cartoon?

Kids do. There needs to be more education in schools about bullying and its effects. Whilst bullying is a terrible thing, kids wont often realise it or know the damage they're causing, but also some people are just more sensitive than others. What some people might call bullying others might just see it as having a joke. I mean, people are gonna joke about a boy loving My Little Pony. That's just how kids are.

Shouldn't the parents be a bit more aware of what their eleven year old does on the internet?
Quite awful nonetheless

As a dad I would encourage the kid to stick up for himself if he seemed kind of timid, or at least trying to laugh it off and make friends of his/her own. Telling them to do this and having it done are different things though, especially when the bully uses his pack of friends to help. Some people are just genetically wired to be more timid and are going to have a harder time of things... that's life. It's not pretty, it's not fair, but it is what it is. You'll always have the quiet kid sitting in the corner by himself, while the pack makes fun and turns him into potentially another movie theater massacre waiting to happen. It takes the parent to notice and dedication on their part to instill self confidence in the child in order to help reverse this.

It's sad, but the sometimes you just gotta roll with it and tell someone about it instead of doing drastic things like this. But he was 11. I don't think I even understood suicide when I was 11.

so...what do we say about the other 11 year old bronies who DIDNT attempt suicide.  Do we nudge them towards the whole, you make choices and they are yours to make wholeheartedly, but you do realize it will come at a price?  The same goes to the pack-kids who sat there and did nothing because they wanted to fit in or the bully kid who has his/her own problems to deal with outside of school or at home who feels pressured to escape by emulating what happens to them but on someone else weaker (I don't condone what happened there...but its sort of a mixed bag of thoughts depending on your POV)  I personally think that the kid must understand that the choices he made had those consequences, just like my choices to eat pizza, cheese and other junk food made me live through the consequences of being bullied about my weight as a kid.

I think the comment on gawker about how a woman related to this story put a major spin on it to her own benefit really drives home that this whole "bullying" thing benefits therapists, psychologists, writers, television and documentary program directors for new material which can be Sold for...money. Heck...Gawker is benefitting, they are getting advertising revenue from the increase in pageviews for this content.  So is call to awareness really just another cheap ploy that in no way benefits the bullies or bullied?   I don't know about you...but my favorite part of "Chistmas Story"  is Ralphie beating up Scutz Farkus.

Pwned!
