There are quite a few Bitcoin charting sites but only a handful are worth a look. Below is a digest and review of the best ways to monitor the price of Bitcoin on the web, Android and iOS. Even if you only end up using one of these charting sites, it’s helpful to keep a list of them because when the price of Bitcoin gets hairy like it did April, the main charting sites get swamped and their servers grind to a halt.

The go to for checking the current price of Bitcoin and watching it overtime. Bitcoinity has reliable uptime when Bitcoins price is exploding or imploding (that was a fun day), and a well thought out interface with the option to switch to dark mode. What it’s good for: Checking the price of Bitcoin.

It’s probably something that you would not likely look at constantly but for a quick check of the price or one of the above statistics, it does the job and works well on mobile devices. If you want to feel like the Hollywood evil genius hacker who looks at dark screens and navigates via terminal, try this on for size. They also offer a predictive price model based off the site creators own algorithm. What it’s good for: Detailed view of the recent bitcoin price changes.

Bitcoin Average gives you the average price of Bitcoin in every currency you can think of as well as a Bitcoin to fiat conversion tool similar to preev.com. They also get extra bananas for being responsive. What it’s good for: Checking the average price of Bitcoin and converting it to many different currencies.

Bitcoin paranoid is not an app or a widget for your home screen but a service that runs in your notification bar. Not only does it off a number of exchanges to check but has a setting that fetches the latest price every ten seconds, which does a number on your battery. If you are constantly checking the price of Bitcoin and are on the go, this is the app for you.

btcReport is elegant and reliable, making it my go-to bitcoin price checker for iOS that comes with a simple to use converter. While most of the features are free, they offer a pro version of the app that lets you setup custom price alert notifications.
