what the fuck, op, are you fucking retarded ? You are offering a $1500 bounty to kill off something with a market cap of 8+ million usd. if someone was interested in doing this (and had the means to do it) it certainly wouldnt be because of your fucking retarded "bounty".

seriously, you're not even worth the fucking oxygen you breath living on this planet.

Anyway, the LTC network is getting much more secure over the last month or two, I think by summer it should be very, very secure.

Litecoin is insecure by design.  Its protocol has been purposely downgraded to be vulnerable to botnets.  Scrypt hashing means that a single botnet can control the network and double spend.

Don't you think all the users of these botnet infected machines will notice that 90% of their cpu is being used for something. Most botnets are for computationally simple things such as sending spam.

So if you can only use a portion of the infected machines resources in order to avoid user detection, really you have multiply the number of machines you need by a factor of 5.

Bitcoin has survived the transition from cpus to more efficient hardware and Litecoin will too.

Are you are that confident with your claim? Go to a certain IRC network and look for somebody to rent you a botnet and do it. Nobody here will approach you.
If you don't know what I am talking about that is too bad for you.

PS: I think you are neither capable, informed or funded enough to even attempt your goal.

This "bounty" is a joke, even for $25k I think this would be very hard to pull off.

To 51% the litecoin network would cost about $1,000 per hour, or $4,000 to meet the requirements of your bounty.  One would have to be bad at math to accept that "deal".  Make it $20,000 and you might find some takers.

D&T, how are you arriving at this estimate?  Is this based on lost mining pool revenue, or botnet rental, or what?

$4,000 seems like an achievable figure.

go to:

http://dustcoin.com/mining

enter  3 000 000  khash in lower left  box
choose "per hour"  in lower right box

you will see a 1000$  under litecoin

this is not so easy, moraly unclear, high risk of ending  illegal/terrorist problems, so 4000$ is not enough

Litecoin hash power and exchange rate down by >35% since this thread started.

Network Hash Rate    1,720,000 kH/s

http://dustcoin.com/mining says it only costs $369/hr to 51% attack litecoin now.  $1500 bounty and counting.

I do find it quite bullish that the OP has many friends that express an interest in Litecoin.

I would bare in mind that all crypto currency's are in there infancy. I don't feel any such need to defend Bitcoin over other alt coins as for price it's not the absolute deffinition of success, I found Bitcoin just as useful as a payment vehicle at $2 as it is now.

Buying a few bitcoins could be a good idea, buying Litecoin could also be a good idea. Getting too heavily into any crypto coin financially speaking whereby it's causing undue stress and worry that another altcoin could steal that money from you has all the hallmarks of being in too deep it's advisable to step back a little.

OP is neglecting to include my and the one other users' negative $500 contributions. So the actual bounty is really still $500.

That can be due to many reasons (ie. BTC rising). I don't see why you are sure that this post holds so much power....

Whatever you do won't affect LTC's popularity. Have you ever heard of negative advertising ? Tongue

Eitherway, in an earlier post you say that LTC has not been adapted to more than 20 merchants. So what? In the future it will be adapted by more of them. BTC had like 100 merchants from the beginning? Don't think so...

Oh my, anybody remember BTCExpress?

Guy was doxed, and stopped posting using that account. I'd stop while you are ahead OP.
On the other hand go for it, my tip is contacting Luke-Jr the guy hates Litecoin almost as much as you and he runs a pool. I am always for any drama involving Luke-Jr.  Tongue

Uncle Bitlane and I were the ones that did that.
