P2pool is an awesome concept. It just doesn't pay. I'm making ~9 btc per day PPS. That would take 4 blocks per day on p2pool.  Which when I was on was a really good day.  I consistently got 2.x btc per block as one of the top miners.

It's easy to see what pools paid out what, especially if there is a historical hashrate available..*p2pool*.
# of blocks * 50 / Hashrate for that period (in giga hashes) = payout per giga hash

No body will produce these graphs because it would prove without a doubt p2pool outperforms everyone else. Tongue
Sorry, but even with Eligius's terrible luck lately, it still has a better track record than p2pool - and I'm pretty sure we're not the only other pool with historical hashrate available either.
Are you saying Eligius has a higher payout per gigahash than p2pool does?   Undecided

(Your cutting in to my search for Nibiru time. Grin )

Going back 3 days, we've found 7 blocks, and one was an orphan. To start, 1/7 is way more than 10% orphan rate. Secondly we're at 7 out of at least 12, and that's near 50% of our expected fucking blocks. I've stuck with p2pool through some low times, but it seems like we've been spending much too long in the trough on this sine curve...

Stop looking at short-term averages. They're not valid. Looking at long-term averages, p2pool is running at roughly 90% expected payouts. For me, that 10% loss is acceptable due to all the other benefits that p2pool offers.

Your slush payout seems odd. Do you mine on and off? I heard that can hurt with a score based pool. 150MH/s should make roughly 0.095BTC a day at the current difficulty, so if your making less then 0.09 give or take, your doing something wrong or your not getting as much as you should. Try mining at a PPS pool like MtRed or BTC Guild or 50BTC for 24 hours and see how much you make.
With 150MH/s on slush he's also probably last on the list to get the LP's from the server.
Late LP's are bad and the lower your MH/s on slush the later you get them (by slush design)

I really hate to say it, but I'm not going to give it much longer.

I love being able to make more than my expected daily payout, but when my weekly and monthly amounts still average to less than what I should be making, it's getting to be pointless.

I love the idea behind this project, but it needs to get the details worked out before I can adopt it full time. There isn't really much for me to say. Going back 3 days, we've found 7 blocks, and one was an orphan. To start, 1/7 is way more than 10% orphan rate. i'm also becoming inclined to agree, which is a real shame.

You are comparing apples and oranges. You need to look at btc per day or week.

The only real way to do that is to split mine both with the same mhash at the same time.

You should be making more on a pps. Slush is scored so shares aren't even. Try a pure pps pool.

Ok, I was mad about another 24hr block and I jumped to Slush for a day. Just want to check how much I can get (again).
And I`m back to P2pool. It is simple match: my small ~150MH/s mine gets BEST from P2pool pool.

This is what I get form 24hrs of mining. YES I know that in long term blablabla... But look at numbers:
Code:

I get 0,000959342 per block on Slush pool.

On p2pool:

I get 0,016195789 per block in p2pool. Ant it was a bad week (not 24/7 mining) , mostly I get over 0.02 per block.

It is 16-20 times difference!
I checked statistics, Slush avg makes 8-20 blocks per day. P2pool 1-4 blocks / day. It is 4-8 times difference. NO WAY to make same amounts of BTC.

So if someone have any doubts... switch to P2pool! Cheesy

UR usinig exe? It might be not complied properly.
Install:
- Python 2.7 http://python.org/download/releases/2.7.3/
Download:
- Twisted http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/Downloads
- Zope http://pypi.python.org/pypi/zope.interface#download
- py2exe http://sourceforge.net/projects/py2exe/files/
and unzip them to \python27\lib\site-packages\
Download https://github.com/forrestv/p2pool/zipball/master
and unzip where you want.
Then run run_p2pool.py Smiley All options should work.
Running it directly from python works better for me than using complied exe. You can also have freshest possible version.

No, just extracted the zip file, saw that there is that new option, which I wanted to try out.

you can shut down your pool at any point and not pay people out
I'm pretty sure I am guaranteed that p2pool stays up and keeps paying people
p2pool is no more guaranteed to stay up than other pools (unless you have enough hashrate to solo mine, perhaps). Also, one benefit of Eligius has always been that since we include payouts for even the current round in the generation for its block, your payout is generally just as secure as it is with p2pool. Unfortunately, due to the design of Bitcoin, SMPPS sometimes carries a backlog that can delay things until it is paid from the buffer, but there's not much anyone can do about that until Bitcoin is hardforked (at which point, it would hopefully be modified to allow additional inputs to generation).
i.e. see my previous comment about him Smiley
