If you have your local p2pool-16.0:python console up you can see transactions happening and such. I run the p2pool node on linux and I keep the console up so I can make sure things are actually happening. It also gives local information on hash rate, (as it is scrolling past).

Not sure how this would work in windows or mac though.

And what happens if a block is found now that the main node is down?
Is it not accepted, lost or ignored?  Huh

Nothing changes... it's not a special node or main node, just another node on the network with a little more data on the front end Wink

Nice to wake up to a block.
Even better to find it was one of my S9's that did it!

My first ever block wow that feels so good.

Very early S9 running rip off miner 1.0.0 never thought they could do it!

I upgraded the firmware to the latest non auto tune this week, maybe it was that maybe it was just chance!

Not bad for transactions and fees on my node either.
Glad to have not driven max block size down to much or restricted fees to much.
Finally looks like the hours of node tweaking have paid off as well.

That was a long drawn out one, thanks to those  who kept the hash here, even I was starting to get cold feet.
After buying a decent rack server to create a UK based node I guess that's kept me in the long haul.
We could do with some more Miners on p2Pool to improve on variance but overall still another good payout even for such a long duration!

Congratulations!
Did you have rebates or put everything from your pocket?

I gambled a lot on rental hash earlier in the week and last weekend. All those shares fell out the chain way before this block. I probably made a few dollars profit.

I'm not doing any more rental hash. Every time I think something will happen it never does.
I'm not a gambling man and I started getting into rental deep then realised what I was doing.

I think my time to educate people about bitcoin and mining p2Pool is worth more than rental hash any day.
Even with the low hash rate and high variance p2Pool still pays me more than any other pool.

Fingers crossed the block gods give us a chance of a good run for a while now.

Whoa! 10 PH/s  Shocked

My friend has been switching 100Ths over time to this pool and I think I'm going to add 1/3 of my hashrate too soon Smiley

I have a feeling that other pools I'm a part of are under attack in one way or the other and I want to diversify my mining right now.

What a waste, I was mining for 3 hours on a node with shares not found  Huh Angry
 Version: 16.0-3-g7d52c04-dirty

Did you submit any valid shares?

I don't think so.
The node  (http://uk.p2pool.science:9332) has a large list of shares.
It's hard to find any of my shares if exists one.
But it's high ranked on http://p2pool.co/

At first glance the node appears to be functioning correctly. Perhaps either you ran into some bad luck, or have unrealistic expectations for your hashrate?

After submitting a valid share you should be able to find yourself here: http://uk.p2pool.science:9332/local_stats

Thanks for the clarification, I've already found at least one.
I was even thinking that this would have to do with fluttering in the price of bitcoins

So smartpool is an interesting idea, however IMO, its a long way off, if it were to be adopted at all...

Quote
We use Ethereum smart contracts to build a decentralized pooled mining protocol called SmartPool. Our solution implicitly replaces the centralized pool operator by network participants who run the Ethereum network.

Also noteworthy is that this can also be built on RootStock, without depending on the Ethereum network.
I read the white paper but being a HVAC consultant it's way above my head.
I'm more of a hardware guy to be fair.

The part of running over etherium is a little worrying but hey there are far more competent people to judge on here.
I'll definitely keep my eye open.

I'm still looking at grumpy and go and found a thread where bitcoind has already been ported.
I'm going to put this on an old box and give it a try to see if p2Pool will run.
Apparently it will multi thread over cores so could make a difference to the back end speed.

And I see this was started 3 odd years ago so old news.......
