I received another donation for p2pool miners.  I'll distribute it sometime in the next day or two.

Greetings from ...XVD (27GH/s) + my 5 BTC donation to growth p2pool.
BTW is all ok with my getwork? Something improve?
I use now 38 VTX 7970, plan increase to 64 within 2 weeks.

Panda Mouse.

Awesome Panda Mouse.  With 27GH/s you may wish to consider a higher difficulty target.  It lowers difficulty for smaller miners.  You can alter difficulty by using a miner username in this format.

username/[difficulty target]+[local diff]

difficulty target is how "hard" of a share you look for (compensation is based on value of shares not just nominal number)
local diff is optional but it is the diff your miners see.  I set it to "1" which allows tracking stats in cgminer across miners and time.

currently the p2pool min difficulty is ~750.  For a small miner that may mean no share for hours.   With 27GH/s @ 750 difficulty you will find 1 share every 2 minutes.  Increasing difficulty to say 1500 would still mean you find 1 share (worth twice as much) every 4 minutes and it helps to keep min diff lower for smaller miners.

I have ~15 GH/s and use a higher diff of 1500 BTW.  Glad to see another large miners using p2pool.

Many thanks DeathAndTaxes.

As I understand you suggest to enter ".../1500+1" or more ?
I have rigs with 4 cards, every rig have different username.

There is:
cgminer.exe -u xxx -p ... -o http://10.0.0.101:9332 --auto-fan --gpu-engine 450-1750 --gpu-memdiff -150 --gpu-powertune 0 --temp-target 75 -g 2 -q -I 8 -k poclbm -v 1 -w 256 --submit-stale
Will be:
cgminer.exe -u xxx/1500+1 -p.....

where xxx - mobo (rig) name.

Your advice is very valuable.
I'll follow you at once.

Wow. I didn't even know that. The "VIP password" is a mystery to me. I finally got it after searching the whole thread.

I think a separate report for each client is very helpful, like NothinG's suggestion.

The "VIP password" doesn't do anything except affect the deprecated RRD graphs.
That's what I said, I think, lol.

Agree with NothinG.

I am going to open my pool to some of my friends, so I need to test if miner's own bitcoin address is working. That's why I use bitcoin address as miner's name.

Now it seems working, but they can't easily find their own statistics.

Hm.. Is it possible for you to use the "-a" argument to p2pool to set the address instead of the miner username? The miner username is only really useful if you have a public p2pool node that others mine on.
It would be cool if miners had their own personal graphs and JSON. Wink

Miners have to use the VIP password as their miner password to be personally show on the graph. Else, it looks like they are mining as one person.
If no BTC Address is set for the miner username, the bitcoins generated will go to your bitcoind locally or if -a is set.

Thanks for forrestv's answering!

Yes, I've change my miners' username from "miner1" to "1NxxxxxxxxUYS" (a Bitcoin Address).

I really don't know that the "current payout" only display the payout of the default address. It's confusing, because I won't know the overall performance of my p2pool node.

Could p2pool seperate the graph to show the overall performance and individual miner's performance?

I have 2 questions:

1. Why did it go down?
2. Will it go up? Why?

Are you mining to a different address by setting your miner's username to a Bitcoin address? The "current payout" graph only displays bitcoins going to the default address. Did you maybe change your miner's username to a Bitcoin address about 24 hours ago..?

The bitcoin 0.5.4 backport works too - see the first post here for a link.

- use bitcoind instead bitcoin-qt
- you may use either the newest 0.6.x beta or the newest 0.5.y "stable beta"
Using bitcoind now. Works fine. Looks like rc4 qt is broken, other ppl have same problems.
0.5 does not work, p2pool requires 0.6rc4+ (for BIP16 i guess).

Good to know! Does it "find" dynamic/changing default addresses? When you dont state an address via "-a" the address may change to a different local bitcoin wallet address.

I can't get 0.6rc4 to work anymore. bitcoin-qt is simply "Not responding" all the time. Is there a better version of bitcoin out there?

- use bitcoind instead bitcoin-qt
- is the bitcoin.conf right?
- is the blockchain completely loaded? (check with bitcoin-qt and/or "bitcoind --getinfo")
- you may use either the newest 0.6.x beta or the newest 0.5.y "stable beta"

sorry for the generic only answer ;-)
