The money is quite large, in my opinion, you should choose ETH or BTC because these two coins are quite safe for you, and just be patient then you will earn from them later this year.

why do you want to settle with alts in the market? usually alts took time to recover and sometimes it is staying on the floor so you should better look into some coins that are already prove themselves in the past market. You can still invest with some alts but make sure it has a good potential because of the purpose of the project also do not put all your capital in it spread your capital.

It's difficult to name any altcoins that will surely give you profits as this is a risk investment and we can't predict any price of those altcoins. I suggest you to better research on those top altcoins that has good and working product as this can boost their value once the market returns to bullish.

I like waves but to be true it is not the fastest blockchain platform. But it developing and managing very well in my opinion

We can't expect any coins that can give you profits as we had in bearish market. You need to wait for more months of holding your coins and sell once the market becomes bullish. For me bitcoin is still the best coins and since you want altcoins then try to look for ethereum and EOS. Remember investing in crypto has high risk and you need to manage it properly if you want to succeed.

With this amount that you have to invest in altcoin, though there are very legit coin to invest in but I will suggest you take your time to do a research even of the ones suggested to you by participants and be sure it is legit before you invest in it because there are some shitcoin in crypto. You can invest in ethereum which I think is the most legit altcoin and other altcoin you find very good.

Different people, different opinions. you'll get hundreds of options in few days coz every one believes in different projects. If you would have asked that these are my favorite projects or researched projects, then people would have given there suggestions based on that.
I will pick following projects if I had to invest $1800 right now:
1. POLY - Targeting security tokens industry, it could easily be a multi billion industry in few years and could translate to trillion dollar industry in a decade or so. Right now POLY is very cheap and you should consider it for your portfolio. You can expect 3-5x in next 9-12 months and if you can hold for 4-5 years, easy 25-30x.
2. PRIV - Targeting anonymity of the users and with the solid devs behind there project, they could be a huge thing in this space in couple of years. They haven't done any ICO and distributing 11M out of 21M total coins to the community members as airdrops. It's also really cheap at the moment, fill your bags with some PRIV coins. In any short bull run you can expect 3-4x easily and if bull run is there like dec-jan bull run, 10-12x is easily possible.

Waves is of course a good coin but the price has not been rising for a long time and is no longer as popular as the old. If you get docademic instead of waves you will be much happier. The price is low because it is not listed in a good stock market right now, it will soon be listed on a big exchange

I'm sure that you need to take coins with a small market capitalization, only so you will get a big profit!

I do not know whether my opinion will matter to you. But I do believe that a good research is required before reading our posts. If you make a research and efforts about altcoins out there, you will manage to come up with your own decision. At least if you fail, you will assume your responsibility and not others'. In my opinion, you should invest in Eth because it is promising and it is a long-term investment. Although the price is still down, it will recover in a matter of time.

Do you have in mind short term or long term investment? Most of altcoins (or maybe even all of them) are closely related with BTC price, so profit from them will depend on how long you can wait and how high/low BTC price will be. Recently BTC dominance on crypto market has increased, and we can see how altcoins do not follow BTC price - how will next BTC pump affect on altcoin market is not easy to predict.

You can pick 5-10 coins and invest 10-20% in in each of them, but no matter in what coin you invest there is always a risk that you can lose money, not only price risk but also security risk., Be sure to save coins in most safe way, especially if you keep them for long term.
