On one hand more acceptance is always great. Big companies stabilize the market, give us opportunities to spend coins, give more legitimacy and increase confidence. It's all great. On the other the quality of products served at McDonalds is questionable. IMO they are serving people shit wrapped in a bun that might be cheap and look good in the pictures but it tastes like shit and has no nutritional values. Good for BTC, but I won't be spending any coins there.

I agree. It is good for BTC and other crypto's that big companies are accepting them as a means of payment.

If McDonalds accept bitcoins for our favorite meals, How are we supposed to pay them? through blockchain wallet? or are there other ways too?
It's simple, you scan their QR code with your smartphone, and then approve the transaction, and it's done. It can be done with basically any proper mobile wallet client, so you don't necessarily need to use an online wallet app for that. You could also choose to "spend" Bitcoin through a Bitcoin related debit card, but these just convert it to fiat, and then settle the transaction in fiat. It's not actually paying with Bitcoin.

Nice right! we won't have to carry our wallets with us. All we need is a mobile phone.
It's nice if you can buy your burgers and french fries without paying 50% of the initial transaction value in fees. I just use the NFC field of every merchant in my local area to pay with my bank card, and it's done. No fees involved, it offers ultimate convenience, I enjoy buyers protection, etc. The incentive to spend Bitcoin isn't there for me.

Is this the reason why the price exceeded the $10,000 level again today? It is really a good news if McDonalds, the largest fast food chain, will accept bitcoin starting next year. I wonder how will banks react on this when they really do it.

I don't really see any connection between the news article and the fact that McDonalds ' will be accepting bitcoin. Plus, you're happy with the fact that bitcoin will be used as a payment to buy burger and fries? You do know that the value of bitcoin is volatile, right? Meaning its price changes with regards to the movement in the market. Just imagine if you pay few bits for a meal today and it suddenly increase the next day? Plus, bitcoin transaction is quite slow and the transaction payment is high. In fact, it is  more expensive than the meal itself.

Really, this news just makes no sense. No bitcoin holder in their right minds will agree to this.

Nice clickbait title  Roll Eyes
But on the topic, it's unlikely that McDonalds will be accepting Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency - no cryptocurrency is suitable for small, casual transactions at the current moment because of their technical limitations. Paying even $0.50 for $10 purchase is just too much, but because fast confirmations are required, the fees would be much higher. And contrary to the popular belief, this is not a problem of Bitcoin only, other altcoins with high transaction counts are also suffering from the same problems as their fees are rapidly increasing. Accepting crypto as a currency makes sense for big purchases starting at $500 now, but this number will be pushed further as their popularity increases.

Recent news around Bitcoin could be very tasty for fast food lovers! Betting giants Betway have released odds for people to take on the cryptocurrency being accepted by McDonalds by next year. It seems that the sharp rise in the price and mainstream popularity of the cryptocurrency has led to a real feeling that the fast food giants will accept it as a payment method soon. Currently, the betting is 1/2 and this could see many people taking the wager with odds so short.

It’s not only McDonalds that may accept Bitcoin

What is more amazing is that Betway has not only limited the odds it is offering on Bitcoin becoming an accepted payment method to McDonalds. Retail stalwarts Argos are in at 4/5 to begin accepting Bitcoin payments by late 2018, while travel giants British Airways are currently showing as 1/3 to do the same. In what would be a major move for them and their customers, the all-conquering Amazon are in the running too, with odds of 6/4 being given by Betway.

I don't know why people are reacting negatively about this, Bitcoin was created to be a currency to be used for purchases. Why would you think that this kind of news is irrelevant on the current price increase. If we are always going to consider bitcoin just being an asset then it will really pop after some times. Bitcoin needs to have more uses than being an asset for it's price to stabilize in the future. I think this kind of news if implemented would really help entice more investors to be in bitcoin.

Absolutely right! Real adoption is much needed to support BTC prices in the days of low demand, else Bitcoin will fall steep in coming future like SpeakAsia did leaving investors dizzy.
I think all positive news should be embraced rather than judged as fake or real because it will ultimately help Bitcoin community. Besides this, Bitcoin is increasingly demanded among various sector nowadays and increased adoption have been noticed. I was recently reading Cointelegraph's article about PWC now accepting BTC. So if even if McD news is hoax, Bitcoin increasing adoption can't be questioned.

Considering how fast bitcoin growing over the year, it's a good idea for companies and business to accept bitcoin payment even though it's not a significant adoption for some people but new adopters still happy if McDonald's and Amazon accept bitcoin payment.
However, there is no any official statement from them, so it just an illusion, for now it does not affect bitcoin market obviously but bitcoin futures does.

As regards your question on how banks will react on this move by McDonalds, I think they will be greatly affected by it. For instance, when you buy a Bitcoin, you would need to buy it using a fiat currency. From then onward, the value of your fiat currency will be converted to Bitcoin. Hence, there will be lesser circulation of fiat currency when big businesses like McDonalds accept payments in Bitcoins. In the same vein, you cannot expect that the value of fiat currency will increase because there will be lesser demand for it due to the acceptance of Bitcoins in the market. You have to be aware that currencies and cryptocurrencies work best by virtue of the principle of supply and demand.

I am not a fan of McDonald's and fast food in general, so in my life it will not change a thing. All this huge corporations just with to become even richer with the help of rising crypto currencies and nothing more. Think about your health! The chain of restaurants is rising making us more fat and unhealthy, taking our lifes.

In my country I think MCD has the highest people footfall in this type of eating chain. Well it could be a brilliant idea in some of the countries where official the country has adopted btc and legalized it. Thus people now can transfer the cypto currency online and probably in some of the same wallets they can transfer which the MCD may hold where the internal transfer fees is zero.

This is really "not interesting" . They are just riding the hype of Bitcoin's price and the CME to gain a buzz on McDonalds, I mean they are already famous but still marketing is continuous and should be trendy , the way i see this, they are just using Bitcoin for their own marketing ploy. Would they wait for the confirmation to be done before they give the customer's order? well, only time can tell. I'm still hopeful by that time the issue on confirmation and transaction fees will be fixed, but as of now Bitcoin has issues on Confirmation and Transaction fees (which i think is not a problem for me anymore) acceptance of Bitcoin as payment on a Fast Food Chain will be really hard.

I totally agree with this. It will take so much time before this "so called news" happen. Several factors has to be considered in this. Besides, transactions in bitcoin is much more higher than the price of a regular meal in McDonalds. I don't think this idea will boost the value of BTC

Any store can buy, sell, and accept Crypto
I'm curious to see how McDonald's would do that? Lol. Their crappy hamburger is cheaper than the cost of the transaction. In my country no one can use any currency except the national one. You can exchange at a Bank or exchange office dollars and euros on the domestic currency. But to accept bitcoins is a violation of the law.

Seriously, I won't even want to spend even a single satoshi on McDonald's burgers. With bitcoins, I'm having a better purpose to spend them on other meaningful aspects, instead of buying burgers and stuffing myself lol

We've seen all kinds of bets being offered to people, and these bets don't surprise me at all. Everything in this industry has a certain form of demand that justifies bookies to offer ride it out.

McDonalds doesn't need to accept Bitcoin, and if we take the less convenient aspects of Bitcoin as currency into consideration, I don't even think they are interested in accepting Bitcoin as payment tool.

People should just calm down and stop dreaming about McDonalds and Amazon to accept Bitcoin. In no shape or form do they need to, and in the same way, nor are they planning to. It may sound harsh, but it is what it is.

People just want them to accept Bitcoin because they think it will increase the price......

That's true mate. The fee alone could cost you $11-$13 per transaction and that's not include the payment to buy some foods there. That's very expensive for cheese burger and fries. I don't think it's a good idea at all. Bitcoin should fix this problem first. But im happy that they are interested to Bitcoin. But they should have do this when it's still cheap and not complicated. I don't think people use their bitcoin just to buy foods. Transaction fee is crazy.

Alea iacta est
Wait so people are willing to bet money on McDonald's accepting bitcoin as a payment method? My God this world.
Also this thread has a very clickbaity title. 80% of users won't click through the actual article nor take the time to read it. So they won't know this was just some kind of betting thing instead of an official statement. Please keep that in mind next time.

I don't think that this added value to the current price. Although is a good and welcoming news for bitcoin, but I doubt it has a significant effect on the current price. This is just pure speculation. And Betway is cashing out on the popularity of bitcoin by putting odds to see if McDonalds will join the ride.

I'm sure that McDonalds is aware of bitcoin but it will cause them a lot of headache in the beginning. But hey, it they do really accept then it may set a precedence to other giant fast food chain to accept bitcoin. But for now, nothing is certain and this is just speculation.

And I agree that title is misleading, another clickbait. Everyone is really riding the popularity of bitcoin. I have seen this begun in May or June. Been reading garbage news and articles and sometimes the author that's know what he is talking about. And guys, please don't attack the product, but the article and who ever is the author.
