Yeah, Bitpay is out too:

Hello, BitPay Card users,

Yesterday our European BitPay Card issuer Wave Crest Holdings, Ltd. received direction from Visa® to immediately close all accounts of its prepaid Visa® debit card programs.

The BitPay Card (non-US) is one of these programs, along with other cryptocurrency-related and standard prepaid Visa® debit cards. Unfortunately, Wave Crest was unable to provide us or cardholders with more time to prepare for this change.
What does this change mean for you?

Your BitPay Card account is now deactivated, and you will not be able to use it for further payments or withdrawals.

You can continue to log in to your BitPay Card dashboard for access to payment history, load history, and other important information.
What happens to your money?

You will get a refund for your ending card balance and for any outstanding card loads. We will be working with Wave Crest to make sure that all card balances return to our cardholders quickly.

If you ordered the BitPay Card recently, you expected to have much more time to use it. BitPay will offering card order fee refunds for all users who ordered on or after 1 December 2017.

We will be sending you another email in the coming days with more details on claiming your refund(s). We appreciate your patience as we respond to this sudden change. We will be working hard to assist our full international cardholder base through this transition.
What is next for the BitPay Card?

We are already in discussions with potential alternative issuers for the BitPay Card which will allow us to serve customers in Europe and beyond. The BitPay Card will continue to be available for users in the United States without interruption, and we expect to be back in your country soon.

As part of our commitment to BitPay Card users, we will send you an email when the BitPay Card becomes available in your country again. If you still want a BitPay Card, we will give you a card free of charge.

We're disappointed that we can't serve you anymore (for now, at least). And we're sorry that this change is going to take away a tool which many of you rely on. But we want to sincerely thank you for using our card. We appreciate having had the chance to work with you, and we hope you'll continue to get value from BitPay's bitcoin wallet app and payment processing tools.

If you have any questions or issues in the meantime, please reach out to our team.

Best,

The BitPay Team

Hold your horses boys and girls, it's a strange (bad) day for Debit cards.

I've got this morning an e-mail from Wirex that the cards are disabled for now and they check with WaveCrest.
And I've read now from other source that WaveCrest has received a direction from Visa to "immediately" close all accounts of its prepaid Visa debit card programs.

Hi there,
this is Weiting from WageCan. https://wagecan.com
If you're looking for an alternative, feel free to use my referral code 7NNcu6J6 https://wagecan.com/s/7NNcu6J6 to get 20% for our Golden Card, which is NOT issued by that card issuer.

Some background info on WageCan:

  • We have issued cards to more than 100 countries in the world
  • Besides card business, we have also expanded our service to contract mining

Feel free to ask me should you have any concerns

Just to inform you all:
"The Commission proposes a number of targeted amendments to the Fourth Anti-Money Laundering Directive."
"Strengthen transparency measures applicable to prepaid instruments, such as prepaid cards, by lowering thresholds for identification from €250 to €150 and widening customer verification requirements;"
http://europa.eu/rapid/press-release_MEMO-16-2381_hu.htm

Thank you for the link.

This is getting really frustrating. 250 € was already a tiny limit for prepaid cards and now
they plan to decrease it even further? The justifications are also pretty questionable. Even if they
would have kept the old 250 € limit it is basically impossible to use it for money laundering or terrorism
financing, which both require much larger amounts.

Hello, are there any service that has a good reputation and allows customers that are not 18 years old?
I'm looking for a service that gives you a wallet and physical debit card. Forgot to add I live in EU.

Hey, guys
I want try Revolut card/app

Any experience, pls
limit card
need ID for card ?

You can only buy and sell btc, eth, ltc on Revolut, but not send or receive any crypto there, they don't have wallets, so I guess it is useless in this case.
But the service is good and 0 fees on most services they have.

Dealt with xapo, wirexapp, cryptopay all good services but didn't find a solution yet for non EU residents.

So far only found wagecan gold card works which cost ~170$$

Any fresh experience about wagecan would be appreciated

Wagecan sends the card by DHL, which helps explain the high price. They offer no cheaper snail-mail delivery option though. While the card arrives quickly enough, Wagecan seems to take a VERY long time (many days!) to load it. This is quite a shock if you're used to the Wavecrest model (now unavailable outside Europe) of real-time card loading.

Another Hong Kong-based provider is anxpro.com - they seem to take a very long time to authorize/validate new customers, much longer than the "2 working days" mentioned on their site.

The whole debit card industry is in disarray since the Wavecrest rule-change. I assume it is not coincidence, but it's hard to know what is going on.

Wagecan is expensive (about 160$). Exchange rate terrible. When BTC rate is 14.000 they calculate 13.000. Beside, they give you HKD on account. When you change it, you lose very much

Shakepay, Xapo looks cheapest (fee is around 1.6% to deposit), although i gave it only quick look.

Shakepay may have been cheapest when you posted BUT they are now scamming deposits! They are NOT crediting accounts! Not responding to support tickets.

Twitter search shows others with same problem.

And also this site, here's another thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.26907322

A problem about the non-verified cards though: afaik at some point in 2018 ALL the non verified cards over Europe will be limited to some 250 EUR lifetime amount, which is awfully low.
250 EUR lifetime amount??? It sounds like robbery.

It's the EU regulation. You can opt to not send more money than that to such card, you can opt to not use such card, you can opt to verify your account and have the limits lifted.
I don't see the problem. And any legit business, especially one that works with money, cannot just ignore the law.

Wirex had this rule for a short time, then, from what I know they've lifted it. But I think that they were just too eager to comply the rules and will add that back in 2018 when all the others will do the same. Time will tell. I just wanted to warn people that this could be a problem and they should check more deeply about this. (I have a verified card so I have no problems.)
Thanks for the explanation and for the warning.

Hello guys. Pls I need a virtual debit card that can be loaded with Altcoin(other coins aside Bitcoin)
Say Ethereum or others.
I tried uquid, spectrocoin and cryptopay.
I need another one as I don't like their services.
Also, no verification required to get the card. I dont even need the plastic card, the virtual card will do.
Thanks Guys

First of all, maybe an option for you would be to use shapeshift (although normal exchange should be cheaper) before loading the card of your choice. And then it doesn't really matter if the card supports altcoins or not.

Now.. I can tell what I know about Wirex cards: they've sent mails that next year they'll support 3 altcoins (LTC, ETH, DASH) along with Bitcoin.
And soonTM (it was soon some months ago too) they should release cards for non-EU residents too.
