I had that feeling that Italy won't qualify and my gut was correct I still had Italy to qualify but I went more with the under 2.5 goals on their 2nd leg which made me break even.

For today i'm putting a unit on Ireland to qualify odds at 2.3 ,after holding the Danes on the 1st leg to a draw this is their chance to pounce back and win. Another bet I have is the under 1.5 looking at their past scores against other teams both of them don't want to give any goals we could see extra time being played. Bet  Slip

Edit : Wow I was way off Denmark showed up.

the statistic match between Italy vs Sweden is very interesting that 73% ball possesion with 14 shot on goals can't makes Italy even at least makes 1 goals to pushing extra time and no Holland and Italy from this world cup seems pretty weird for me and also this is the biggest failure since 1958

i think is bad world cup
because 2 big team, italy and holand can't partcipate, and iam not believe only meet sweden in play off italy lost, with agregate goal 0-1

Why do you think it is bad world cup?

Italy and Holand were strong teams but this time they didn't prove that they are strong so who ever qualified for the world cup are better than these teams. That means you should still see good matches in the world cup.
true Holland and Italy we're not strong enough to get a spot in World cup . The Netherlands made it difficult to them by keep changing the coach of the first team for more than three years and their best performance we're when they ended the previous world cup at 3rd place with LVG now until now they have been struggling to keep their previous image and for Italy they we're unlucky when they had to face Sweden but if you're gonna be a candidate to win world cup you would have to win every game and they didn't do that in the first leg against Sweden which made it harder For them to fo in the second leg maybe it's time for them also to.clean their house from corruption because they are not the team we used to know.

Well I will eat some pasta with pesto tonight as a way of saying 'Goodbye' to Italy  Grin Honestly I am not gonna miss them at all when we have such exciting teams in like Iceland!

Lol that what I did  Cheesy
A tearful Gianluigi Buffon said he was "sorry for all of Italian football" as he led a wave of international retirements after a World Cup play-off defeat by Sweden.
I think he should retire from football entirely because this heartbreak is too much for a man to bear, With the exception of the Champions League he has won a lot of things in football except that.

It will be unusual to watch the World Cup without Italy, but if you can not score goals in two games against an objectively weaker team then you do not deserve to qualify. But there is few referee decisions which are very questionable, and first is foul in 8 minutes which can easily be penalty kick for Italy. Also second big mistake from referee is clear hand playing by italian player, and he give yellow card to a swedish player for protest. And what to say to that foul from Lusting on Darmian, knee to the stomach with all its strength, but referee say Darmian play with hand before that.

This was an interesting game with lots of opportunities, unfortunately without goals.Italy will certainly have to change something, what is certain that there will not be Buffon any more.Excellent goalkeeper and captain say this was last time to play for national team.

What happened with Italy, it is difficult to explain in words. The players promised to give their best on the field to win the national team of Sweden. In the end, lost. But they are to blame for the loss.

What happened to Italy is because of the manager Ventura, he didn't activate Lorenzo Insigne our number 10 during yesterday night game and he only gave him about 20 minutes to play in Sweden. He is the best playmaker we have so far and if you saw the game yesterday we were suffering in midfield. Zhorzhinho is a Brazilian although naturalized as Italian and it was his first game. In such critical game you can't leave Insigne out. That is what happened yesterday.
The manager should have been given the sack a long time ago with his strange football formation and tactics which yielded no results at all, I am surprised this is how low the Azzuris have been brought to after Conte revived them recently.

And his insisting on keeping these players leaving out some better ones and insisting on his schemes brought an Italy out of the world cup after 59 years consecutively that they have been on the World Cup. Darkest moment of football history for Italy, I wonder how will they come out from this, a revolution is needed in the national team.

I really hate to see Gianluigi Buffon crying all the time and this entirely all on the Italian FA, I was even this pissed off when my country wasnt able to qualify for the World Cup but am very pissed here because the team i really like fail to make it.

Even though Italy has always been known as a defensive team, they always had players who were able to score in whatever games that they play but with their current team, they don't have any players who is able to score the goals when they really needed to.

Sixty years, the Italian team without a break, got to the World Championships. And yesterday, failed to score a single goal the Swedish national team and thereby not going to the world Cup in 2018. It's just a shame for all Italians.

Adios Italia, surprise even not Italy is simply playing very poor football, now thay have to think a lot to make comeback
Agree, Italy played poor football tonight and to be honest, Sweden deserved to play in World Cup. Italy have amazing defence line and goalkeeper, but with lack of high class forwards and midfielders they didn't had many chances against Sweden bus. For me it looked strange that Insigne was left on a bench. I'm very sad for Buffon - it's worst way to retire from national team. Now it's interesting who will become new coach of Italy - it's obvious that Italy was too high level for Ventura and Italy need something more than no name manager. And maybe with new manager we will see Balotelli in Italy squad - I'm missing him a bit.
P.S. Today it was several questionable 11m penalty moments, but referee didn't saw nothing wrong.

The prudent betting man would have stood to gain a lot from Sweden over the two legs. Sentimentalism will make me wish Italy did a bit better to qualify, of course we want them to be in Russia next year. That anguish from Buffon will also probably be the last I'll see from him at this stage - he is my age too, so I grew up watching him from his teenage years, so imagine all my boyhood heroes one by one retiring.

But I think if we're being objective, Sweden earned the right to progress. And we want a World Cup worth watching, so Italy simply didn't make the cut.

Ventura can't bear the weight of this failure, even if he will. There just haven't been enough in the new crop of players to take over from the old guard. And I'm not saying Italy's mindset of playing with veterans isn't good either. I think players can play well into their 30s and even 40s if they are fit and have the right mentality. But you can't expect the veterans to keep lifting the team.

Unbelievable, after 60 years Italy won't be competing in a World Cup.A few thoughts on Italy today:

- Italy failed to score in 180 minutes.
- Ventura is shite. A 3-1-6 formation from the beginning, does he actually thinks that having more forwards is gonna make the team score more goals? pathetic. Having no midfield was the key.
- Gabbiadini over El Shaarawy?  Parolo over Insigne!? seriously, who is Parolo and what was he doing in the starting 11? Insigne is the best attacking player on the team, and he didn't see a single minute today. C'mon Ventura.
- The fact that the 3 defenders (Bonucci, Barzagli, Chiellini) were the ones pushing the team forward says a lot about the team today.
- The FIGC should fired Ventura, and also the guys reponsible for choosing him as the coach.

Congrats to Sweden, they were solid defensively. The beat France, Netherlands, and Italy to make it to the World Cup. Incredible.

And did anyone see Buffon in the interview after match? the guy was devastated, crying, it was hard to watch. He retired from the national team today, great career with the 'Azzurri', an absolute legend.

When I saw the starting eleven Italy last night, I did not feel any creeps at all. I do not like this no-nonsense Italian squad. Italian football seems to have changed, the Italian squad filled with players medioker. Seeing the squad like last night, it's not worth them. I want Italy to qualify, but the Italians play the players as if they do not intend to qualify for the World Cup.

The blame in my opinion should be put squarely on the Italian FA for hiring an incompetent manager as Ventura and not having the balls to give him the boot when he wasn't doing anything better for the team.
