Rikafip
I'm sure many of us have seen Rikafip helping out with hunting down alts and scammers.

Yes, he's also a good contender. Sometimes I wonder if newbies with special proclivities and know-how are alts, and then am reluctant to support their endeavors, but Rikafip seems like a genuine newcomer. He's asked me for my advice a time or two, which I don't think an alt would do.

Leave this bickering in another thread. You guys need to stop carrying it to every single thread.

I don't remember asking for your opinion on the matter.

Edit: if you don't think its worth talking about that Quickseller is using an alt to nominate himself for "newbie of the year," there's something wrong with you.

I'm adding a couple of nominations:

zasad@

I came across this member a while back when I was directed to a conversation in the Russian section.  He seems like a decent person, and certainly helpful to that local board.

The Russian branch is now in crisis.

Just because he was not part of that batch of recently woken accounts, doesn't mean that he is not part of this group. Here are few "coincidences"

I simply inquired if nominating yourself was allowed.  After you answered, i was going to nominate myself, but decided against it after some consideration.

I considered nominating myself to be a little too tacky for my taste.

Only a little? Why would you have even brought it up??

Jeez Louise. You should just be happy to be in a Hhampuz campaign man.

The only name I recognise in post #1 is Ratimov who has started a Russian Language version of the Known Alts thread. (and Loycemobile who doesn't count - no offence LoyceV Wink )

I haven't interacted with him practically at all, so am hesitant to nominate him without support/seconder.

Indeed Ratimov registered this year. I am giving him my nomination. He's a real go-getter, and while I don't speak Russian, I value the contributions he's made in English (scam busting, identifying alts, etc).

who on earth nominated quickseller's alt? the primenumber7 guy

PrimeNumber7 nominated himself.   Undecided

Three questions:
Are we allowed to nominate ourselves?

When selecting a "meritable" post the person made, what is the maximum rank they can have been at the time? If they ranked up during the year, can their post be from after they ranked up to a full, or senior member?

Is someone disqualified if they gained knowledge and experience with bitcoin prior to registering on the forum? Some people like to lurk on internet forums without signing up. For example, I have read stack overflow threads nearly every day for a very long time, but have never had the need to actually sign up.

I guess it's technically not in violation of the rules, although a good lawyer could argue it's a violation if the member knows it's an alt account of another established member.

2. Don't nominate your own alts, or an account you suspect is an alt of another established member.

None the less, it's kind of tacky and obviously not in the spirit of the thread.

oh wait he doesn't qualify? maybe he should, idk?

I agree he should.  I can remove the rank-up stipulation.  This is a celebration of new members that are good for the forum so I think this one should be included.

First nomination, thanks V8s.

It's football season in America.  Real football; men's football; gridiron, pigskins, goalposts, and hard-hitting, corn-fed Americans.  One of the big things the NFL does this time of year is celebrate the accomplishments of the year's new players, who are affectionately refereed to as rookies.

Hey mate!

Very nice idea, good to see established member of the community "honoring" the new guys - the good ones. Wink But as much as I like your idea: Sorry for being off-topic BUT........................ I couldnt resist but comment on what I quoted above! There is only one real football and you know it, dont you! Cheesy Obviously you are mixing up things and talk about that something called American Football --> some ppl refer to it as a sport...  Cheesy Cool

Ironically, I was just looking for one of your posts so I could nominate you.  Now I'm not so sure.   Tongue Grin

You know I just wanted to tease you, dont you...  Grin Regarding that nomination... Well, I already feel very honored, especially when its coming from a guy like you! (and I mean this!)

P.S. I got the curve, right?  Grin Cool

I suppose that's acceptable.

Not specified, and not important in my opinion.  The posts can be from anytime during 2019.

Not a disqualifier, in my opinion.

'The right to privacy matters'
No doubt there is quite many good new members joined Bitcointalk in 2019. But I don't always pay attention to user rank or nickname. So, unfortunately not many of them had stuck in my memory. From users mentioned above, I'm only familiar with @efialtis, he is great guy. And I must agree with him - no offence, @DireWolfM14, but there is only one real football, and it's definitely not handegg  Tongue

So, I think I should nominate someone also. I pick The-Devil (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/the-devil-2726750)
He joined forum just in December, but he already proven himself as good member. Here is one of his great posts:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.53398134

football and soccer have one thing in common they suck compared to baseball and cricket 🏏.

rookies i got one give me a minute to look up his name.

he is a 2018 so not a rookie.

had a very nice s9 mod design.

here is his thread.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/my-s9-heater-version-5213936

He would be a sophomore not a rookie as he began in 2018

this thread earned him a lot of merits  he was a member  and this thread got him to become a full member.

There is quite many good newbie members, but it's not that easy to differentiate them as not alts of other users. I was about to suggest this user before i checked the review in his profile.
However, i did really appreciate your initiative DireWolf .

I would suggest this newbie from my local board:
User "icy3" https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/icy3-2309382 registered account since 2018 but still a newbie with only 10 posts. He is a great thinker and a good writer. Any arabic reader can admit how icy3 is a clever guy. 9 out of 10 from his posts received merits as we are already few active members in the arabic board .
He is not often online but he keeps visiting the forum and i guess he read topics in many boards.
He self admitted that he is from Syria, i wish he is doing fine and that he won't stop contributing to the arabic board.

Nominee:  geophphreigh
Rank | Join Date:  Full member  |  July 23, 2019

Reasoning:
The Collectibles community is fairly tight knit and it takes a LOT for a new member to surpass their newbie status and start to build the repertoire that a regular Collectibles poster needs in order to gain trust with trades and sales. A lot of newbies to our board come in guns a blazin and think they are going to decide whats best for their sales/ego and it has pushed more newcomers away than those that have stuck around.

Enter geophphreigh.

Humble, quiet, new to the physical bitcoin collectibles game, geophphreigh begins by entering a raffle, putting in a bid on an auction, and straight out purchasing his first few items from trusted members in Collectibles. Seeing that this newcomer does not have much activity he is asked to place deposits, use escrows, and message the auction hosts before bidding in auctions. All of these done without hesitation, geophphreigh quickly starts to gain trust amongst the many Collectibles sellers.
Friendly rivalries start in many raffles/auctions and geophphreigh quickly became a common name in many of these.. still to this day. Sometime's not so friendly geophphreigh is also not afraid to call out the bullshit moves made by certain coin creator's and sloppy auction hosts.

The Utah Goldback was issued and had us collector's hot with excitement. Not only did geophphreigh start a group buy for other members (it involved wire transfers and KYC/phonecalls and a lot of bullshit many people did not want to do) but he also created the board's own [INFO] The Utah Goldback Reference Thread. A well planned and thought out information thread regarding the history of these collector's notes along with the wealth of information and pictures provided.

Yogg(Coldkey) hosts a design contest for the Ten Years Of Bitcointalk Commemorative Coldkey and geophphreigh submits one of the winning designs and a personal favorite of many. Click here to see geophphreigh's design and here to see the actual Coldkey card.

Theymos hosts the Ten Year Bitcointalk Anniversary Art Contest and geophphreigh creates one of the most stunning pieces of art. Click here to see geophphreigh's piece

This member has wowed many of us in the ~6 months they have been part of the community. Can't wait to see what they bring to the table this year and also hope we see some more new guys to our little ol Collectibles board with the skills and attitude displayed by geophphreigh.
