Wow! This is quite surprising Belgium losing by four goals to nil by Netherlands, they didn't score a goal, that's awful of them, despite playing lots of their key players Belgium couldn't score, currently at 89th minutes as of now

Edit: Belgium put one in, that was their first loss to Netherlands since 25 years, Van Gaal gots his tactics right this time around against Belgium

I think on Facebook I saw that Messi has stated he wants to play in the next world cup also. I don't know if that is true but it would be something to watch Messi play in the next world cup as well.
But except for Messi, I think for the others it is going to be the last world cup. Especially for Ronaldo. And that's why I really want to see a good performance from him in this world cup.
I dont know if Messi have stated that somwhere that he will be playing on the next World Cup after the coming one.
But yeah about Ronaldo it is the last World Cup for him but i dont think that they have big chances to win them.
On the game yesterday i readed that he even wasnt playing and was on the bank the whole time.

I think the 2022 world cup will be the last world cup for some football stars, not only messi and ronaldo but pepe, modric, di maria and maybe even lewandowski and muller also have the potential to retire, some of these players are now entering the end of their careers in the national team and of course the regeneration of players will make countries competing in the world cup better than continuing to rely on old players, indeed their performance in playing is still very good but sometimes age is an important factor to be considered by national coaches.
Dont know if Messi will be retire after that world cup , but ronaldo, pepe and modric they will be to 80% !
About Müller its maybe the same as Messi and he will be making a few years till its the time for say good by to the National Team.
The old players are needed sometimes for the team spirit.

This world cup I am expecting an underdog to lift the trophy. In the history of the World Cup competition no Asian or African country have won the world cup. Qatar 2022 might be different. I expect countries in Africa or Asia to win the world cup because they are coming to this competition with alot of experience and quality squad. Although these teams might be comparable with thier counterparts in Europe and America, but when Mother Luck is by thier side, anything is possible. Please watch out for teams in especially Africa.

I remember very well that in the last world olympics several totally unknown teams and athletes even took Olympic medals, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened at the Fifa World Cup.
In all categories, people's sports skills are very balanced.
I'm Brazilian and I support my country's team, but it would be very interesting to see an African country lift the cup and give a moral lesson to FIFA and to big teams that think they are the favourites.

Some interesting groups, many interesting matches are coming, but it is hard to pick one "group of death".
It will be rather battle for second place in many groups to qualify to play-offs . For now teams from 1st seed are imho favorites in every group
The 2022 Qatar World Cup is going to be one of the best World Cups I've ever seen. Already the strongest team has qualified for the World Cup. In terms of strength, some teams will be far ahead of other teams and their chances of winning the World Cup are much higher. Among them Brazil-Argentina, Germany, France, these teams are the biggest contenders for the World Cup.

This World Cup edition become last time for several star player like Cristiano Ronaldo until Lionel Messi. Fans expected both them could reach until final, between Portugal and Argentina not really interested for discussing because I think noth countries can't achieve good result on World Cup. But very sad will have between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will announce retired from national country after this World Cup edition ended. I really sad with my national country Italy failed reach to World Cup this time.
I can't believe that they have announced that they will retire after competing in the World Cup for their last edition match, we have lost 2 star players at once after the World Cup match ended, I hope they present spectacular matches for each country until the final match.

It would be strange if they didn't leave the national team after this championship - after all, it's the pinnacle of a four-year cycle and their age means they won't make it to the next World Cup. It's better to leave on time than when you're dragging the team down. By the way, if I remember correctly, Messi has already ended his career in the national team several times and then resumed it.
Both Messi and Ronaldo countries don't have the best team on paper in this world cup. This is likely their last worldcup but these legends might still want to have few games with their national side after the world cup. In terms of an identity, cohesion and commitment, the Argentina team seems to be slightly better than that of Portugal and hopefully it will be a great worldcup for Messi.

I dont think that Portugal and Argentina can win the world cup this year. For me they dont have the quality to get it. I see France winning the trophy. They have so many good players that they can keep switching and creating. I see portugal and argentina in quarters max

Completed participants countries only with Lionel Messi and  Cristiano Ronaldo without favorite can talk more on 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have ended era and career with their national country. I think both player give bad reputation for their country and make left 10 player difficult how to make creativity still if Messi and Ronaldo on national team. Always try keep focusing scoring goals by both player between Messi for Argentina and Ronaldo for Portugal, will hidden many other potential player if still have Messi and Ronaldo.

they are getting old. Naturally, if they retire from the national team. and it's about time there will be a new, younger star for their country.
however, we know these two players are the best in the world. extraordinary talent that may be difficult to exist again in the future. both are magic people. I hope that even though they have retired from the national team, they can be in the coaching team to continue to pump up the spirit of young people in their country.

This is really sad but that's how life circle works. It's not the first time top footballers are retiring from national side, it happens in every worldcup. 1994 fifa worldcup was last worldcup of Diego Maradona and he left the world in 2020. This  world cup will bring joyfull moments that our coming generations will see.
Yes indeed this will be the last World Cup for players who are arguably the star players in the current era. But indeed the age factor cannot be separated from the sport which is the most popular sport in the world. But I believe that a new era will soon begin, we know that this World Cup will always produce players who can replace the seniors.

I really like the National Team of Ukraine, but I think that France will take first place in Group D. I don't like long-term bets, but here the outcome is so obvious that you can place a bet if someone makes long-term forecasts. For France, the group is very simple, I even think that it has a chance to win all the matches in the group.
The most favorite team in this group is France. Some of France's star players are already showing their skills in a very beautiful way in one of the best clubs. I think France is one of the top four teams in the 2022 Qatar World Cup

Maybe in this you are right, the last world cup is certain but that doesn't mean they will retire right away considering there are definitely some national matches they will play in the future considering in this case they are still quite fit there.
But this may be true for Cristiano but for Messi I don't know considering he is like you said and he already has a spare ticket so he is free in and out Cheesy

Messi may be superior in terms of player quality compared to Portugal but there is a possibility that there will be an increase in the rating of each player in the next World Cup match, because every player has been training hard to present victory for their respective country in the World Cup match, so my prediction is the country of the two superstars possible entry for the quarter-final match.

I can't imagine a world cup with the absence of some big names in world football,,,the likes of Argentina's Angel Di'Maria,,, Portugal's Cristiano RONALDO,, Argentine's Leo MESSI Brazilians Marcelo,,French's Karim BENZEMA,, Polish Robert Lewandoski,, Uruguay's Luis Suarez and Edison  Cavani,, German's Manuel Nuer,, and so many others that will be calling it an end to thier international careers they will be missed but the good thing is that upcoming stars are always available to replace them and that will be advantage to the different national teams that will be affected.. but surely they will be missed... It's gonna be an interesting world cup because this players that might be playing their last world'cup will want to call it an end to their international career with at least a successful world cup outing..

Your statement looks especially interesting against the background of the fact that there will be no reigning European champions, the Italian team, at this World Cup.
By the way, today Roberto Baggio spoke on this topic, saying that such a format is insane and the European champion should automatically qualify for the World Championship. I tend to agree with him, there is 100 percent logic in this.

Brazil are favorites to win the Fifa World Cup as it stands.
As for me Argentina will not win, forget all of the hype.
A good replacement for them will be Portugal or Belgium.
France also has inconsistent players, but they are still not near winner's these year

Definitely, we are going to Missed some of this players who have vital role to play in their country team. Like in the circumstance of Cristiano Ronaldo, Who is the all time scorer for his country, Portugal. This may likely be the last world Cup for Ronaldo and also Leo Messi. So these high class players will put in their best and everything they got inother to levelled their records. Nevertheless, we still have vibrant young lads who are starting to impressed Football lovers will their magnificent performance in games.

That is something natural and not something strange and new, because over time there will always be new stars appearing. But, even though they don't play in the world cup but at least you can still watch them play in their respective clubs, they will indeed retire early for international matches but for league matches they still at least still have time to reach their age and decide to retire. In the past I was very happy to see where Del Piero, Totti played for Italy and like Trezeguet, Zidane played for France and many more like the era of Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Owen in the England national team and many others and over time we will get used to it to enjoy football without them.
