I mean, we waited impatiently for the Argentina and Brazil summit, especially after the first leg was stopped..but the winds came with what ships did not desire. Neymar missed and did not play against Messi. a Goaless tie and the net was not shaken,
a rough match in which 42 errors were counted in total.. the goals were absent from A summit in which the yellow cards fell (7) and it could have been in a red card.. In the end.
Argentina reached the World Cup 😊 and this is what is important now..
I'm personally not too surprised by this goalless draw, because teams in this region of South America even though their players are star players, they often find it difficult to score. I sometimes watch their matches live and in my assumption they only want goals from individual effort and not teamwork, but when a team from South America plays against a team from Europe they are more likely to work as a team. Anyway, Brazil and Argentina have already qualified for the World Cup and that's how it should be.

The Netherlands completes the European team that has qualified for the 2022 world cup final in Qatar after their last match was a 2-0 win over Norway, the additional three points put them two points clear of second-placed Turkey with 21 points, Turkey completes the country who must enter the play-off zone to claim a place in the Qatar world cup.
This year fifa has changed the world cup play-off system, in the past fifa imposed home and away matches, but this year fifa has made changes, fifa divides three slots,, i don't understand what is the purpose of fifa making all these changes, if anyone knows please answer yeah..
From year to year Fifa continues to make new policies towards world football and of course this makes many countries pro and contra for the changes made by fifa so far, I personally consider all changes made by fifa of course for the good of all countries participating in the world cup.
Oh yeah do you mean 3 substitution slots?
If so, maybe this is done to reduce disruption to the match, so that each team will have a maximum of three time slots of opportunity to make substitutions during the match.

The qualifiers are set up a bit differently now - 12 teams will be split into 3 pots. Each team will play a semifinal and a final, so from 3 pots there will be 3 winners that will secure qualifications to the World Cup.

Since each game will be a one-off, the room for error is nonexistent. Also - the probability to play another big team in the final is really high.

Bottom line - I'm really glad that Croatia was able to qualify directly. This is way harder than before.

Yes, Croatia should real promise the last world cup and I am happy for them too. But I am really sad about Portugal not qualifying directly. As this is Cristiano Ronaldo's last world cup I think deserved better from his own team.

Whenever a team scores early, the final result will likely be the opposite Tongue
Turkey made it to the play-offs but could they succeed with a draw containing Italy and Portugal!

Not only Italy and Portugal would be a problem for Turkey, I think also Sweden, Czech Republic, Austria and Poland are better teams. Turkey has made progress with their new coach, but they would have to get Russia or North Macedonia as opponents to stand a chance. Don't forget that there is a semi-final and a final. So the chance is very high they hit at least Portugal or Italy.

Hah! I knew Norway Netherlands would be dull, I watched the first half and then half of the second (which is a shame as 2 goals came in last 10 minutes)... one corner the whole first half and absolutely no pace on the ball. Stadium was empty too thanks to new lockdown measures in Netherlands so it was quiet, dull, and bleh.

Good temporary riddance to internationals, seriously =p

the Portugal coach is so confident that he’s given a guarantee that his team will be there at next year’s World Cup, and I hope he comes good on that guarantee or he’ll be out of a job.

He has nothing to lose by making that guarantee. If they don't qualify, he'll lose his job anyway, regardless of whether or not he'd made the guarantee. I do think though that if you are going to say something like that, it could be counter-productive... but at least he's said it before the draw is made. If they got a tough-ish opponent like Czech Republic, and he made that statement, it would really galvanise the opposition to want to prove him wrong. Saying it before the draw is made makes it less personal... unless he's suggesting that Portugal can beat all these other teams easily, including Italy.  Shocked

It's a shame that teams like Italy and Portugal had to enter the play-off zone, both of whom were defending champions at the previous Euros. With this result, maybe only one of them gets a ticket to the World Cup or maybe neither. Because right now the dark horse teams are very likely to put up a strong fight too, I personally really doubt that because I was one of the people who bet for Italy and Portugal to win in yesterday's match.
I don't understand what all this fuss about Portugal playing play-off. Is it a new thing and I don't think it is official anymore. They are used to playing play-offs either the old or new Portugal, even in Europe cup they also use to qualify as a best looser. As a Big fan, I am not surprise about Portugal playing playoffs. Because at the end, they will qualify and start hailing the goat. it just happened that Portugal Coach was tactical clueless against Serbia. He started the game with a defensive approach. Just imagining with the like of C.Ronaldo, Bernado Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix, Andre Silva and he just be packing the bus against Serbia.

Lastly no mention for Wales who even without Bale managed to hold off the mighty Belgium, and secure the point they needed for World Cup play off seeding.

I wonder if Belgium is still the #1 ranked team in the world? I always thought to myself that this is an amazing statistic for a team that has never won any major trophy yet,,, I guess this is what they say about KO tournaments you do not have to be perfect you just need to find a way to win when it matters.

I guess Wales draw is not much to shout about as everyone knew Belgium did not need to win?

The group matches in the European qualifiers have come to an end. The most interesting ones were Portugal and Italy finishing their groups in second place. I don't know which teams will come from the Playoffs, but I think Italy and Portugal will win the Playoffs and go to the World Cup.

Finally we will be able to see the Netherlands in the world cup after the failure to qualify in 2018. I feel bad for Norway. Got a really tough group. No Haaland then in the next World Cup. I am afraid Haaland may not even play the world cup.  But happy for Netherlands and looking forward to see van Dijk playing his first international tournament. The coach got the tactics very wrong this time. Norway threw players forward to try and get the goal they needed which left lots of space the Netherlands took full advantage of. With how Netherland have been very inconsistent in National side football, I don't think they would go anywhere far in the tournament.

The Norwegians were just unlucky. They were placed in one of the toughest groups and then Turkey edged them out by a whisker. It will be disappointing for fans of Erling Haaland. But he's just 21 years old and hopefully we will be able to watch him playing in the next world cup in 2026. Norway was not the lone unlucky team. I can give examples of Romania in Group J, Albania in Group I, Czechia in Group E and above all Finland in Group D. Anyway, in the next world cup, there is an increase in the number of teams and those who failed to qualify this time will be having higher chances to do so.

The Concacaf qualifiers look interesting as well. A brace from Larin was enough for a huge Canada's win over Mexico and they are still undefeated after 8 games and are holding the top spot.
Last World Cup that Canada played at was in 1986, so it would be great if they held on and qualified.

If you haven't, also check Michail Antonio's goal vs USA - a screamer from 30 yards out.

In UEFA qualifiers - I feel sorry for Finland but Ukraine was better overall. Wales did great against Belgium and are my dark horse in the extra qualifiers.

Turkey made it to the play-offs but could they succeed with a draw containing Italy and Portugal!

I guess we'll find out. Hopefully they'll avoid either teams, the draw will made be on the 26th of this month.

I think we will have an interesting playoff, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Scotland, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, Wales... can't wait to see that draw on the 26th, we can see Italy vs Portugal as well, that would be a good game, and for some teams, this would be a relief probably!

Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Serbia, Spain, Switzerland qualified, congrats on that! Last time Serbia was third in the group stage (behind Brasil and Switzerland), I hope they can do something more this time!

Poor San Marino, why would big teams do that bullying to them? Smiley Nine goals already and there is still twenty minutes time. If they pass to two digits that would be something we don't see for a long time. Usually we see scores like this from Germany but now England showed their brutal power. Actually that's the beauty of football. Have no mercy even in an ordinary match. Well done boys, enjoy your big win.
Bullying, nop far from it, blame it on the competition and how teams are paired!
Unfortunately for San Marino Same old results just a different day and different opponent! These guys need a break from football to get the overhaul they need to start winning their matches  to say the least. When last did these guys win if I may ask?

This time around these guys didn't struggle much unlike in their previous attempts, good to see they are among the first confirmed teams to qualify for the world cup. Now the real work begins as they will need to see themselves through if they fancy bring this silverware home.

Feels bad for Cristiano Ronaldo. Qatar 2022 was supposed to be his final world cup appearance. Portugal may still qualify, as they are on top in the playoff table. They have 17 points, followed by Russia at 16 (Switzerland or Italy may still end up with more points after today's match). Within two days, the first phase of the UEFA qualifiers will be over and we will get the list of 10 teams who qualify as the group winners. For teams like Portugal, we need to wait for a few more months, until the playoffs are complete.

I also think that Ronaldo deservers to play one more World Cup. But in the end it is the performances that decide whether or not you are going to Qatar. If you saw the game between Serbia and Portugal, I must honestly say that Serbia was the better team, period. They gave their everything and really wanted it much more than Portugal.
