Not sure how I missed this post, but GREAT news nonetheless! I have used zpool many times off and on to mine coins I am unable to mine with my sha256 mining gear, so I am familiar with the process. Just a couple of questions for you before I try it out..

1.) If we want to receive CHAO as payment for mining on your pool, we just need to our CHAO address & c=CHAO as our password?

2.) Is it safe to use a Cryptopia Exchange generated wallet address, or do we need to use our official client wallet address?

If anyone needs to add some new nodes, here they are:

addnode=104.255.67.131:10005
addnode=107.134.126.6:10005
addnode=107.170.233.137:10005
addnode=45.33.104.27:10005

Yes, you'd use c=CHAO as your password along with a valid CHAO address as your username.

Yes, we send coins using sendmany commands so it's an actual transaction which Cryptopia will see, not like P2P transactions.

Cheers!

From what I've been able to find, Blazr2 created unobtanium and 23skidoo amongst other crypto innovations/curiosities. Does anyone know if this dev is alive? or free? or in prison? but hopefully just changed handles for security reasons.

The website for this coin was working up to a few months ago - now you land on godaddy's park page. I have always wondered if the lack of information, dev presence, block explorer, etc., for this coin was perhaps designed to be that way? Just hope that the coin survives & people don't lose interest as a result.

IF the dev IS still out there somewhere, but intentionally "hiding" (or leaving a big mystery for all of us to solve), I'd hope they would have enough sense to give us some sort of sign and/or get the webpage back up before it's too late!

For those who may not be familiar with the phrase/term "23 Skidoo", check it out on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/23_skidoo_(phrase)
still holds the highest price at altcoin. I hope also, the dev can give life to this coin, because I saw a very rare and has a great future

Strangely enough, I was editing my post that you quoted while doing some research when you made your post - as you can see my original post in your quote before I finished editing. Now I am freaking out a bit because what are the chances of that happening with a coin that has such a small following like this & a 4-page Thread that was started on March 22, 2014???   Shocked

The website for this coin was working up to a few months ago - now you land on godaddy's park page. Oddly enough, even when it was working, it would come up as a blank page 75% of the time.

I also find it a bit odd that the very last post made by gxsbk was the OP for THIS Thread. If you follow the ANN link they left in the OP (https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/7788-do-you-skidoo/) cryptocointalks website will open & say "Sorry, we couldn't find that!". But then here is the ANN (https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/8154-23-skidoo-chao-information/) posted on cryptocointalk on 15 March 2014 - 06:39 PM by "Jimmy Cryptoforumologist" who is an ADMIN with the highest ranking level possible..

For those who may not be familiar with the phrase/term "23 Skidoo", check it out on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/23_skidoo_(phrase) or https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/23_enigma

I strongly encourage anyone else to do some research & see what you come up with! Maybe this is some sort of intentional "enigma" that needs to be pieced together somehow? Either way, some definitive answers might just spark my interest enough to start mining this coin again..

Oh I remember when this coin first launched. I mined some but no where near 1 coin. What are these things worth now? Do we have an exchange for 23Skidoo?

I'm a linux person, so please pardon the outdated link at the wayback machine link for the windows client. When I first started researching this coin I scoured the internet for any info since the original site had disappeared. I can't seem to find any recent info on Blazr2 either. He, she or they seem to have disappeared, or maybe just changed handles?

Forgot to mention something else for the boost related code fix I found. If you go to build (make -f makefile.unix) and it says it can't find a directory, just manually create it where it was looking for it and run the make command again. I highly recommend everyone ditch anything related to Apple or Microsoft when it comes to this client till a proper update can be forked if Blazr2 has vanished from existence. Still searching... Still waiting... reading debug logs keeps me busy for now for what little time I have available.

Last recommendations for Ubuntu build:  NEVER use root or sudo. Everything can be built from user and always use a different password for your user and root accounts. Also never allow root SSH access. DDWRT and Tomato make awesome substitutions for converting your high powered gaming class wifi router into a legit firewall if you can't afford time and money into something like a Cisco RV325 Dual Gigabit WAN VPN router or Cisco ASA.

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/routers/rv325-dual-gigabit-wan-vpn-router/index.html

You can also get some older model Checkpoint Firewalls and flash them with DDWRT.

Learn to use linux CLI and IP tables (and purge that Ubuntu UFW garbage). Using a DDWRT powered router and a linux workstation will free your mind, reduce your costs and secure your wallet as long as you don't lose your keys and make backups for offsite storage such as a safety deposit box. Encrypt everything per Moxie Marlinspike's advice.

Thank you Rockmoney...
that did it, i had the syntax wrong. now it is in sync mode and should be caught up in a few hours.
I was going to use the generated wallet on that site but i saw they recommended not using their wallet as a direct payment wallet from other pool.
I did a test run and now have to wait to see the payments. I plugged my antminer s5 into the pool and hash away happily.

One thing I wish the owner of wmikrut would implement on his pools? The ability to see exactly when a payment is sent out and how many per day or hour. I mean the min pymt is set low but never really know till all of a sudden the balance is back at zero.

good site though, i like seeing all the other coins. makes me want to try them out and see what i can do. Smiley
Happy new year to you and all,
Brazilman37

For 23Skidoo [CHAO] on wmikrut's pool, you will be paid out automatically when you have mined 0.00000250 CHAO & your balance will turn green as seen in screenshot below - once green it won't be long before you receive payment. I used to mine CHAO 24/7 on wmikrut pool & only ever used my Cryptopia generated wallet address without any problems whatsoever (as I mentioned previously, this will also eliminate having to pay transaction fees for transferring the coin from your private wallet to exchange).

I would recommend using your Cryptopia wallet address, wait for your first payout, & just check to make sure you received it with no problems to ensure it works. Also, the pool is actually a UNOMP pool (Unified Node Open Mining Portal), & that is why you can generally use an exchange address without any problems. It's the p2p pools that won't work with with exchange addresses, but ultimately the decision is yours.

Glad I was able to help!   Grin

Hi all,
I downloaded that version and got the same out of sinc issue. Now I am hashing away on the pool no prob. but I see they are using version 0.9.2 and i cant find that anywhere. this version we all are downloading is wacky. I tried to add the nodes and keep getting the following:

15:47:14

Method not found (code -32601)

not sure what that means, will my payments still go there? and if not where can i have my payments sent? i need a wallet that works.
Have a great day all Smiley
T

Personally, I would just use a Cryptopia generated wallet to mine this coin - you will avoid paying transaction fees for sending coins from personal wallet to exchange, & alleviate your need to get a windows wallet syncing/working. I can confirm that mining CHAO on wmikrut.com using your Cryptopia generated address does work flawlessly, although you can NOT do that on most p2p pools & would therefore keep a close eye on it at the beginning to be certain it is working for you!

Be careful with downloading files from sources that aren't trustworthy (not suggesting that any member(s) here are or are not trustworthy - just advising to use caution). I am away from home right now, but I will do what I can to help from my current position. Have you tried downloading the newest version from GitHub? (current version being used by Cryptopia is: v90400) - GitHub link for Skidoo-qt.exe v0.9.4: https://github.com/thegreatoldone/Windows-Clients/tree/master/Skidoo-0.9.4 (I have NOT tested that version yet).

Here is a link to a previous version of the working windows wallet (see attached pic below to view a screenshot of me with the wallet open & syncing from my sister's computer just now): https://mega.nz/#!WEdxQbpK!AJbTi6vJGVL_M32ntxeyL6sE4GH8H9saR6xHygiQzq4

Here is a list of all nodes seen in the last 24 hours (copy/paste them one-by-one EXACTLY as I have them below into the wallets console & it will begin syncing as seen in screenshot below) You can always download the bootstrap on wmikruts pool here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_HANVbqy0JldXdzTzFZMG5ENms/view?usp=sharing and/or get the latest nodes by clicking on the "connections" button found in Cryptopia's Coin Info section https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/CoinInfo/?coin=CHAO:

addnode 107.170.233.137:10005 add
addnode 104.255.67.131:10005 add
addnode 45.33.104.27:10005 add
addnode 107.134.126.6:10005 add
addnode 192.241.154.207:10005 add

I believe the "Method Not Found" error you experienced was caused by missing .dll files, which you can search for with Google, download, and then put them in the same folder as your Skidoo Wallet is in. Will be able to help more after the New Year when I am back home - hope that gets you by in the meantime!  Wink

downloaded and added nodes says no block source available

I just downloaded the wallet from the link in Post. Wallet opened without entry point error but would not sync until I added the nodes directly into the Client. Open the Client/Wallet, & click on the arrow to the right of "List of Numbers", then click "Text Box" and enter the nodes as follows:

addnode 192.99.37.133:10005 add (then click your pc's "enter" button) - continue adding the nodes using that format & it will begin to sync right away!

The only working mining pool that I knew of for this coin has been dead for two days now. Not sure why either because there were always at least 8-10 people mining with a steady hashrate of around 3TH/s.

If anyone gets a pool going (or knows of an existing pool), please let me know and I will send some steady hash its way!

how to fix skidoo 0.9.4 client so it will compile in Ubuntu 16.04 64 bit
Associated 0.9.4 client:
https://github.com/thegreatoldone/skidoo

Link for fix:
https://github.com/bitquarkcoin/BitQuark-0.8.3r20/commit/6564a1252bc7ccaa5c1c1b67ccb1771c078279be

Path to file that needs to be fixed:  ~/skidoo/src/rpcrawtransaction.cpp

line 240 of this file needs to be fixed:
    Incorrent Line 240:  const CScriptID& hash = boost::get(address);
    Corrected Line 240:  const CScriptID& hash = boost::get(address);
Be sure you have done:  sudo apt-get install gcc-multi*
and all other typical libraries needed for most cryptocurrencies based on bitcoin, then do your standard:

make -f makefile.unix

and all is well. Happy mining and long live the ultra oddity that is 23skidoo. Check your pineal gland for updates.

Note:  This build problem actually started with bitcoin, but has been seen across all bitcoin based cryptocurrencies.

Someone needs to build a block explorer. If this coin falls out of the limelight, it will eventually disappear and become worthless because no one will know about it regardless of what "value" the folks at coinmarket say it's worth. If no one will trade or accept it as payment, it is worthless.

It might be possible to build a block explorer from something like this:
https://github.com/iquidus/explorer

but I don't have webspace or funds for one.

These other 2 links for chao clients are older which is why I cited the one I did in the beginning of this post.
https://github.com/EwigeBlumenkraft/skidoo
https://github.com/noise23/skidoo

I also realize that the fix link shows line 245, but the actual line in the skidoo file is 240

You can get the windows-qt client at the way back machine link, just click skidoo at the top

I have been a fan of this Coin & was mining it via the only working pool I know of until last night sometime. I woke up this morning to find the wmikrut.com pool was dead, tried the only other pool listed in this Thread & it is dead as well. I truly hope this is just a temporary problem or this Coin may be in trouble..

0: Enabled Dead Quota 1 Prio 0: stratum+tcp://wmikrut.com:4022

EDIT: 23skidoo.info website is down as well..
