Yes well I did offer to meet up with him in person. Guess we'll never know unless he comes back and has an explanation. Or, it was just a hoax and a huge time waster for all involved.

Uncool either way.

Thanks!

I was PMed asking if there was an update. This is what happened...

We spoke on the phone the next day. (20th?)
I increased my offer.
He said he would talk to his partner.

No communication since.

I'd just give up dude, sorry...

How long will you allow yourself to be put on hold like this? It's quite obvious he's just delaying until you get sick of asking.

What I don't understand is why OP did all this in the first time, no profit from scamming anyone, and nothing but a waste of time for everyone else...Huh

Yes, OP wasted the time of many people.  Group buys were organized, and he even had offers for the whole lot.  At the very least he could say what happened.

He probably wasn't looking for a F2F deal. Something might be wrong with the coins. Might not even be real silver. Smiley

Too bad pretty coins I would have wanted a roll of them.

I would offer escrow but I usually don't handle that much for escrow.

I do mostly under 2 or 3 k for escrow.

I don't believe escrow was the issue.

I did agree to pay in bitcoin so that escrow would be possible, but let's be honest, with the price of bitcoin over the last week, I am happy no agreement has been made. Smiley

Yeah btc onwards and up wards

Not to be a jerk, but I'm actually baffled that no one has even questioned this listing. Again, my comment has more to do with the nature of Bitcointalk and how deals are done here, not by the OP's listing itself, but, a relatively new account came along starting a >$40K auction claiming to be an old member providing the same stock shots that are in the old thread.

Offering to accept escrow was certainly a good call that inspires confidence, but just saying I'm sort of surprise no one has asked for pictures, a signed Bitcoin message, or anything like that.

I agree, but I indicated I wanted to fly out to make the deal in person.   And, with using an escrow, I am not worried.

Small update.

I sent him a PM.
He replied.
He said he will call me this morning.

I guess he could post a picture of the lot as proof to the thread that he has them.
Admittedly, a picture wouldn't mean a lot.  What would matter to me is seeing them in person or via an escrow (of which I suggested a well known person).

Just to be clear, I didn't offer up spot pricing.  So, it's understandable if he doesn't sell to me.  If he does, then I offered up 25% of them to the thread at my total cost.

If the thread remains open, I will post if we make a deal (even if a partial) or not.

Hello Bitcoin Forum,

Been a long time since I've posted here!  Grin

I am auctioning off 2,500 oz of 1oz silver coins, which were minted by MyBitcoinMint.com (no longer operational).

These are some pretty pretty coins, and have been kept in great condition  Shocked

If someone wanted to purchase the coins, and re-mint them to have the Bitcoin logo on both sides (instead of the My Bitcoin Mint logo), or any other design they have in mind, we can work with you to get that done.

This auction will end on Sunday the 16th at 9pm CST.

Minimum bid will be silver spot price (appx $17.50/oz x 2400 oz = ~$42,000) , and will not include additional costs such as shipping & handling or optional re-minting.

Happy to use a reputable escrow party of buyer's choice.

Is it safe to say that this entire thread is a load of BS yet?

The OP abandoned this thread never replied to offers here or via PM to me at least, if anyone else had a different experience please post it.

Otherwise please close and lock this crap thread which was a huge waste of time by a guy who probably never had any of these coins.  The pic not showing up in he OP should have been a good sign , but I guess we thought maybe this could be possible.

To top it off the guy said he was going to go and bring all the coins to a PM dealer in the city when offers were made to purchase handfuls of these fake rolls he claimed to have which would have been at a zero loss to him and possibly let he community share in some history.

If he really was the guy who had them and gave a rats ass about this community and the collectors here, he never would do or say that he would destroy all of these "originals" and wrire it off to dump them to a melting metals place in NYC. I think I'll have to call BS on this one for now.

Please close this thread as it is obvious that nothing is happening and the "auction"' is over.

Thanks!

so is this over now?
I just got home from the movies and forgot to place another bid, although I wouldn't have hit the silver spot price.

To answer your question, yes, it appears so.

No one actually outbid me indicating a quantity and price.

I am still interested and willing to negotiate, but not publicly.

PMs.

good luck with that, as the OP never even replied here after it was over. (or via PM)

If you do wind up getting them , I would purchase 2 rolls from you.
If not, then this seems like it was just a big waste of time.

thanks!

so, any update on the status here?

says will end tonight at 9pm CST.

At this point, I am the only one to publicly make an offer for the full quantity.
Others have mentioned they wanted a small quantity, but not made an offer.

Looks like sniping.

Yeah, unfortunately no one seems to have bid at the minimum of silver spot price. I will likely end up liquidating the silver at a PM dealer in the city :/

Well i'm assuming the price is what the OP requested at the silver spot at the time of the post, if not then please update the amount if you are looking for spot at the end of the auction in 2 hours. (spot price has not changed much anyway since then)

If no one wants to purchase the lot, then the options are either the OP can go to a silver buyer in NYC and sell them off, (which would be a shame due to the uniqueness of the coin and to dump them to be melted down etc etc..) or we can coordinate a quick group buy which I would be happy to assist with.

Either way OP , I would be interested in purchasing 2 rolls for myself personally and can meet up with you in NYC to pick them up from you and pay for them. If no one else wants any, then you can dump them off to be melted in the city.

Michail1: "Unfortunately, I would not be willing to meet anyone while in NY for a sale."  that's totally up to you of course as well.

All I know if this is for real, and thay are for sale at spot, I would be able buy 2 rolls tomorrow from the OP, anyone else who wants any can let me know, or organize a group buy before he sends them off to be melted down to nothing collectable.

thanks!

@Michail1, if you want to purchase them as you mentioned and can possibly meet the OP's required amount or work something out with him, I can also take care of picking it up for you the group or whatever, I am not sure where you live, but if you are coming into any of the NY airports, I can pick you up as well, just let me know.

thanks!

I am in Seattle.

I would fly in because I would pay with a bank dollar transfer on the spot with the OP.  It's best if the OP would pick me up since we would have to go to his bank anyway for the transfer.
Paying in bitcoin is something I wouldn't do since I don't want to give up bitcoin which I would have to repurchase. Since Gemini isn't authorized in Washington, the only real option is Coinbase (which I fucking hate - another story and I have posted clear reasons before).

If someone wants to sell me Bitcoin at a discount (for bank money), I could apply that discount to raising my offer for the silver.  Unfortunately, I would not be willing to meet anyone while in NY for a sale.

I will up my offer soon before the 'auction' ends.  Actually, I might have to leave shortly for a while.  Might miss the end.

couldn't post since another post before I hit send:
geoffreyqp "i live near you, and if you do this i will take 100(5 tubes) of the coins at that price." - geoff lives near me in Seattle.

Also, no one specified an amount.  Maybe they mean silver spot at time of auctions end?

I'm just following the thread and thought I'd tally up the actual bids:

Michail1 2400 @ 14.50 = $34,800

LegendsofTomorrow "make me an offer i cannot refuse and ill take the whole lot."

geoffreyqp "i live near you, and if you do this i will take 100(5 tubes) of the coins at that price."

Liad.Services "If you are willing to sell 10-15 units of this, let me know,"

buckrogers "I am also interested in buying a few tubes possibly"
