We're busy prototyping and doing software integration work, and will be doing a test run of 100 units around the end of the month to prove out our manufacturing partner.  Volume production is slated to start in October once the next batch of Bitfury chips becomes available.  We're still waiting on updated pricing from Bitfury to determine how big that first volume run will be.

Could we have some photos of the prototyping work? You sortof imply that it is physical, may we see the physical work? You could obviously censor out certain "competetive" features

If you notice, this stick uses the same design as the BF1 USB sticks announced today. The BPM people also comment through this thread. So if you are curious about the update, go check https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bpmc-launch-bf1-usb-miner-probably-the-fastest-usb-miner-in-the-world-292433. Hopefully they will price it properly!
Actually it is a different design. It just uses the same chip.

Would love an update on the development of these devices

Like wise, I also read these can only be used with an rpi and chainminer? I was really hoping to buy roughly 5 or 6 of these and hook them up to my rpi running minepeon with cgminer.

it says the price guide is:

September - 2 BTC
October - 1 BTC

cheers,
kev

Estimated Pricing:
September production - estimated price 2BTC per stick
October production (using October deliver Bitfury chips) - estimated 1BTC per stick

Final pricing is still TBD, and depends on factors like volume.  The more interest, the cheaper we can get them made.

Emphasis mine

These were selling for less than 1BTC, 2BTC for a Bitfury thumb is a ripoff.

Bitfury chips were selling for $20ea in reels of 3,000, so if you charge 2BTC what's the other $180+ for?

who said anything about a price (of 2 BTC or whatever) yet ?!

It's in the first post of this thread. Obviously something people don't read.

^^^

The drillbit thumbs are selling for $99 for October delivery and it will likely be the latter half of the month.
bitfury chips are $60K per reel of 3000 for October delivery.
If you bought them in July/August they were priced at $130
If you want them now they are $108

And just like that the offer gets pulled.  The bitfury chip situation right now doesn't make any sense.  Hopefully they figure out something that is more equitable and supportive of the DIY community.
