Fake....   If you were really doing BFL's business model, you would have promised to deliver them in two weeks (tm).

Yeah.........& make a photoshopped image depicting a virtual product..........& then produce a different release date every month for it  Cheesy

Oh.............& you need chickens..........lots of chickens  Grin

Seriously though, powered USB hubs with powersupplies like this one should work  Wink

The main cost driver is Bitfury and their selling practices/pricing.  I'm expecting a price-war soon enough on the ASICs, and we are doing everything we can do shrink our costs on the BOM.  Megabigpower is currently selling 1 chip @ 1BTC.  Cost per GH on low density devices will soon hit a floor anyhow, even friedcat has to pay his vendors and all. Worst case I make a few hundred of them for me and my friends, my motivation is for personal fun and education, as well as making a contribution to the community. As always we will keep things open and transparent.
I'd considered buying a large number of block erupters to basically give away— I think everyone that wants to try out mining should be able to... but the poor power efficiency compared to what was coming made me think twice: doesn't make sense to give away a bunch of devices which wouldn't produce much bitcoin but would also be operating at a loss in just a few months.  A bitfury based device would be a lot more attractive, but with 1BTC chips, its sadly too far outside of the range that would be interesting as a giveaway. Sad

Eagerly awaiting more concrete pricing so I can get a group buy started.  You still offering to make these available to us lowly consumers? Smiley

I imagine these usb sticks would (should) be usb 3.0?
If they are USB 3 then you could have potential issues with the raspberry pi

yes, that's why I'm asking. I would imagine them to be usb 3.0 for more power (vs. usb 2.0).
The bitfury chip does not require the added power that USB 3 would give

nice, I was wondering (and at the time, being extremely lazy and didn't feel like doing research, was too damn early for me).

Price needs to be:

Deliver by end of |price per unit (BTC)
Sept0.50
Oct0.35
Nov0.25
Dec0.2

This is price before shipping, rounded up to the nearest 0.05th of a BTC and based on my current 6-month profitability projections. The more profit-oriented will order larger amounts, while those ordering a single unit will be happy with the chance to get their money back in the following 10-12 months after delivery charges are taken into account.

I like the USB port being staggered to one side because it will play nicely with half the USB ports, depending on your luck. Better than putting it in the middle and blocking both ports or blocking one port 100% of the time.. It also will play nicely with most USB hubs.

I like the idea and the initiative but if you cannot lower the prices to an acceptable level by lowering your costs, then obviously it may not turn out to be a good business for you.

0.5BTC/Gh/s in October?

Might be a fun toy ~1btc, but anyone paying 100BTC would be taking a huge risk in their ability to resell them for a profit, and they certainly wouldn't be very worthwhile to use in a big mining op.
ASICMINER has already Fucked people over 4 times and counting with their USB sticks... I think the suckers are getting wise...

They haven't fucked anyone over. they gave you a price and you paid it. They are the ONLY ones who have been relyable for delivery. They can't save you from your buying practices. When the Playstation 3 first came out how much was it? How many price decreases has their been? You want it first you pay a premium. As time goes on and sales drop they adjusted the price accordingly.

I couldn't agree more.  You can't blame anyone but yourself for a bad decision YOU made.
I never bought any, so I made no bad decisions.

It's working out ok for ASICMiner, ROI notwithstanding Tongue

So this means that Bitfury is releasing design documents necessary for creating our own PCB gerbers???  Is anyone working 10x or 16x boards for these bitfurry chips?

16x

2x
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.2974755

intron

I like the microcontroller you used on the 2x usb miner, but it also means nobody will be mass producing them until next year unless you can magically make NXP fix the shortage.
