Wow ... This is a big break in my opinion. What's interesting here is that besides the default wallet application installed on the mobile, there are blockchain based integrated apps such as messaging, social media and browsers. And this has not been owned by Samsung when the Samsung Galaxy S10 was released. This will be a big attraction for HTC

Nothing lasts forever
So HTC following Samsung to enter to the cryptocurrency. But unfortunately, I don't use Exodus, and I am not familiar with that wallet. I still prefer mycelium and Electrum for saving bitcoin, and I use Jaxx for keeping my altcoin and tokens.
But that will be great for the crypto user because they can use HTC to save bitcoin. I wonder how much the price of the HTC mobile phone and if the price is almost the same as Samsung, then I don't think I want to buy that phone.
Since when did HTC started following Samsung ?
For I know, HTC is first in this industry to implement the blockchain technology on to their smartphones.
I have heard the rumors of Samsung implementing blockchain technology in their smarphones too but I guess HTC was the first to implement it.
The first gen of HTC blockchain smartphones had Exodus wallet pre-installed in it.

can someone explain to me how this smartphone is powered by blockchain?
all i see is the same old smartphone which is no different from any other smartphone that has only installed a bunch of applications that are related to cryptocurrencies! that doesn't make it "powered by" blockchain! it is like me saying my PC is powered by bitcoin just because i run bitcoin-core full node on it!
It is exactly what you have said. I guess the people at HTC would have a tough time explaining this. I do agree that it is the same smartphone with just built-in applications but they have now said that the new smartphone will have blockchain based apps for browser, messaging, social media apps etc.. I wonder how that is gonna work. Are there any blockchain based browsers, messaging apps already available in the market ?
Are there any such Dapps or something that I don't know of ?

yeah  think it will be important this notice when the cellphone get more affordable. Like how xiomi Did now they are well knowed worldwide. Htc using the technoly could be also a mess. I thiniks this cellphone is more for whales not for general crypto user. And also s not the best way to keep your crypto stored. Because at least for me.. i have lost or get stolen 3 cellphones in this last 4 years. But i kept my same usb . Thats why i think this product has to be more prepared to be more usefull not only use the crypto hype.

Once a man, twice a child!
The first blockchain smartphone by HTC was released in late 2018. The company said that the sales had 'met expectations' which I think is a good sign since people would have become aware of blockchain since then.
First launched in late 2018, and many haven't seen or heard about it till now? That shows poor distribution and publicity on the part of HTC, I must confess. And here I was thinking Apple would be the next to go the blockchain path. Well, this is still a cheery news nonetheless  and it should proper more interest in Bitcoin and cryptocurrency at large. Better days are truly going to be here sooner than we imagine.

BTW, it should also be better if Microsoft, HP, Dell and other computer companies follow this trail immediately.

How is it called? like built-in blockchain technology? I think blockchain can also be useful in protecting the identity. For now, these seem like a just marketing effort. Masses don't care about blockchain tech in phones.

This is very promising for legitimizing cryptocurrencies in the eyes of the public. More than likely, when other manufacturers of phones see the potential of this market for blockchain phones, they too will jump in. I'd like to see this type of software the norm rather than the exception in the industry, so that all phones will have pre-installed blockchain capabilities.

Smartphones which supports cryptocurrency will also be supported by people who support crypto as well. HTC is one of the most expensive brands but I don't think that people out of crypto would appreciate its special features. On the other hand, famous brans also supports crypto sites so I guess there's no big difference.

Then if HTC is one of the most expensive brands, I would not buy that mobile phones because I think that is not worth to buy. I would still prefer to buy a mid-end mobile phone than to buy a high-end mobile phone if the features are not giving me much advantage even if that mobile phone powered by Blockchain.

I consider buying a mid-end smartphone because, with the mid-end mobile phone, I can do multi-task without a problem and I only pay less than 2nd gen HTC smartphone. I don't need a high-end mobile phone right now because all of my tasks could be covered by mid-end smartphone and so far I am satisfied with my mobile phone.

I haven't heard about this even the first one that they've said which already have exodus wallet, it will be weigh in it's worth when adoptions will happen to
this phone, same a like with Samsung S10 where noise around the crypto market really catch attentions of cryptolovers,  time will tell if this phone will get
support not only from the mobile device lovers but also from the crypto communities.

Will this make a difference in the market?
Will the sales cross the 'met expectations' mark and really boost the overall sales?
Relying on Blockchain as the only advantage that will achieve the required sales seems wrong.
Either the company focuses on developing a phone with integrated technologies with cryptos and blockchain, or to be considered one of the advantages and not the main feature.

When I talk about integrated technologies, I do not mean just installing a wallet and adding several cryptos apps, but to make the device an improved version of hardware wallets.

HTC is so unpopular bit yet very expensive phone brand,  the 1st gen HTC with exodus wallet capability is sold for a very high price $750 which is quite huge compared to other product such as Samsung. This is a good development if only crypto lover can have access to them this will further upgrade our security level and privacy.
Price is the main priority here. No one wants to spend such a large amount of money for extra security which is also offered by competitors for far lower prices. I would love to see a new Oneplus model with blockchain wallet support.

These mobiles sell like hotcakes and it could help improve the popularity of blockchain wallets at the same time.

There is nothing seems to be blockchain powered, and from my understanding this is same as the common phones. From my view Samsung is the only platform that has got some relation to the blockchain technology with its inbuilt wallet for around five different altcoins. HTC is one among the leading manufacturers of mobile phones and technology based devices, understanding the need for blockchain technology now they've started marketing with the term blockchain.

The smartphone scene are very competitive, so companies are looking at new technologies that might give them the edge over their competition. The "Blockchain" buzzword are being flaunted as the new cutting edge technology, so everyone are trying to implement some kind of Blockchain technology to be ahead of their competition.  Roll Eyes

I welcome HTC's attempt to incorporate this new technology, but if they try to build their own private Blockchain, then it will be just another centralized "ledger" system with permissioned access.  Roll Eyes

In today's market, the war for market share can always be affected with the price range of the products. Gone are the days when people can easily be interested to shell out more money just because a product is somehow connected with the blockchain and cryptocurrency. People these days are very practical especially if the brand has no cult following. I am hoping that HTC develop this market more...so that soon we can have many more manufacturers integrating cryptocurrency and related technology into their products. This is actually a major leap for the benefits of the market...and more famous brands are also looking into this with keen eyes.

So what do you guys think about the new 2nd gen blockchain smartphone.
Will this make a difference in the market?
Smartphones with blockchain-related features aren't on high demand, so it's very unlikely that HTC will see a surge in market share, even with the 2nd gen, they'll probably stay somewhere at the bottom of the list when it comes to smartphones brand recognition.

Will the sales cross the 'met expectations' mark and really boost the overall sales ?
Probably not. Sales will probably see the same levels from the other generation, HTC doesn't offer anything innovative that could attract the masses. They'll probably keep targeting a niche market (crypto users) which apparently works just fine for the company.

HTC is expensive yet it isn't as popular as other brands like Samsung, Huawei or iPhone. I don't think it's blockchain features would be an advantage to attract more buyers because even a simple smartphone could support blockchain technology. What would be the edge of it to make it's worth buying?
HTC was ahead of the game of mobile phones before, now it lost it's magic, and continues to go down, same thoughts also people would prefer to buy hardware wallet instead of mobile phones because the risk of getting your phone stolen is higher compare to hardware wallet, blockchain powered phone for me is just a gimmick.
If HTC's sales were met as the expected before then the second generation would also have the easy introduction for its sales. Maybe the first thing that the HTC should implement with their strategy is the way they will market it. They must partner with the most used blockchain apps so and merge together to build a best service and opportunities to the users and blockchain enthusiast.

Also, targetting a non-blockchain enthusiast is one of the things they must also do.

smartphones are now considering the technological innovation a solid and remarkable one by applying the use of wallets to their mobile phones from production phase. it is so in the just released Samsung S10 and now it is the time for the HTC smartphone to consider it an a welcome development and see how it comes to their own.
